Advantages: Its about me!
Disadvantages: You will all think I'm completely crazy after reading this
Why people think I am strange......
1) I am a complete perfectionist, and have a routine for most things.
Around the house I have to have everything in place and having some form of symmetry or coordination is completely necessary. My boyfriends mum bought a vase to put in our living room and it was just not the right colour red and didn't match the cushions or the red in the painting on the wall but to be nice I had to put it in the room. When my god daughter accidentally smashed it, I was secretly very relieved as it was the only way to get rid of it politely
.
At work I have similar issues as I have to work with Microsoft Visio diagrams a lot, and I regularly have arguments with my PC if the lines are slightly wonky or the diagram lacks symmetry. It drives me mad when a collegue sends me an unsightly visio diagram, most of them now know I like some form of order and know just by the look on my face if it doesn't fit this criteria.
Food is probably when I get at my most OCD of moments. If I eat a Sunday roast, I have to eat it a certain way, vegetables, potato meat then Yorkshire pudding. If I am getting full I don't move onto the next Give me any meal or food and I can tell you my routine for eating it. People that don't know me well don't notice it but my close friends do and call me very very strange. Ferrero roche chocolates and jaffa cakes are my compelte obsession. It makes sharing food a nightmare which is why I very rarely offer
2) I get uncontrollably hyperactive
This only really has happened as an adult and my parents told me I was a really calm child.
I will skip and jump around and really cant help myself, I might just scream or laugh to myself. If I am excited everyone knows about it. It makes me rubbish at keeping exciting secrets though so most people never tell me. I'm that excitable people have asked me on a few occasions if I have been drinking or taking drugs when I certainly haven't been. I'm usually just happy on life!!! If I ever did win the lottery I think I would just be completely uncontrollable and probably injure myself from my crazy antics!
3) I talk far too much
I am quite loud not in awful or mean way; just a bit like Tigger I come bounding into situations. I ask loads of questions sometimes just pointless questions. The bloke I sit next to is a bit of a geek and to bring him out of his shell and get him talking when he was new to the team I used to ask "why" a lot, especially when it was something quite scientific... despite the fact I had no clue what he was talking about. I get uncomfortable with silence so I just usually talk about nothing just to fill that void. It drives some people mad. If someone really annoys me by actively taking a dislike to me when I have done nothing wrong then I make sure just to keep talking at them. If I'm asked I will shut up but the whole rolling eyes thing is just rude. If I have done something you don't like then tell me! I also am quite to the point, which offends some people, but I would rather people be honest with me which is why I act this way. Those that no me well think its funny and I have even been described as "lovely and chatty.. but mad as a hatter!"
4) I eat too much spicy food and can drink really hot liquids.
Well by normal standards anyway! I thought I was pretty normal until I shock people with what I eat.
I love jalapeņos, I eat so many of them. I go through about 7 jars a week. Some days I bring a full jar to work and eat them at my desk as a snack as they have very little fat or calories in but taste gorgeous. Everyone who knows me winces in horror as I eat them but they don't burn my mouth. And it doesn't give me a sore stomach after.
I ordered a pizza for lunch recently which I thought was quite mild , jalepenoes, tandori chicken and spicy sausage. I couldn't eat half of it so gave it to the guys I sit with at work. After about two bites all off them were gasping for water like it was a vindaloo and running around with mouths on fire shouting about their burning mouths. I thought they were just wimpy but they all call me weird as I didn't even flinch or take one drink.
I also drink really hot tea. Most people I know are letting it cool still when I am drinking mouthfuls , again making them clutch their mouth in horror!
Obviously I have a tough mouth and stomach when it comes to spicy food or hot temperatures
5) I get annoyed upset over the smallest silliest of things, however when a major event happens I stay completely calm.
My boyfriend, my parents and my colleagues all call me a drama queen.. I admit it I am. But large drama's, situations or events don't get to me its tiny silly situations that do and I over react at. They laugh and say I would be more calm in serious accident than I would if I forgot my lipgloss.
I take control of large serious situations without even getting flustered but it is something very stupid that will set me off into a hissy fit or floods of tears.
Forgetting something like my bag, my mascara, my purse, my favourite piece of jewellery or getting into a petty argument (to name a few) really upsets me and can put me into floods of tears like a huge trauma has happened or into the worst of moods
A medical drama, a huge work presentation or critical piece of work. I'm as calm as a cucumber. Even when people die I am upset but I don't cry uncontrollably like people would assume from some of my behaviour!
I would say that they are probably way more reasons.......... But you probably made your mind up already... I certainly am strange!

- 23/02/09 I once ate a bird eye chilli raw for a dare (you know, the small really hot ones?) That was bad, but not as bad as when I rubbed my eyes and they started burning - those chillis you are meant to handle with gloves! When I was younger I loved jalapenos but have gone off them recently.
I agree about the hot tea, though - never stop to let it cool for any reason! |
