Aberdeen F.C.Newest Review: ... be unrealistic for any Scottish club and at that time, they looked set to become the biggest power in Scottish football, bigger than both halves of the Old Firm, Rangers and Celtic. But as the nineties approached, things began to go pear-shaped for Aberdeen. Graeme Souness' Rangers revolution saw the Ibrox side begin to dominate Scottish Football and they pipped the Dons at the death for ... more |

What's happened to Aberdeen? The once mighty Scottish club have fallen to new depths over the past couple of years as Danish manager Ebbe Skovdal battles to turn things around at the Pittodrie club. But despite plans to move to a new 30,000 seater stadium, it could be too late for the Dons as the European glory days under Alex Ferguson are now long gone. Aberdeen shot to noteriety in the eighties under the guidance of Ferguson with players like Steve Archibald, Willie Miller and Alex McLeish. Their exploits in Europe would today be unrealistic for any Scottish club and at that time, they looked set to become the biggest power in Scottish football, bigger ... Read the complete review

Aberdeen are currently sitting 10th in the Scottish premier, we have been knocked out of Europe and also the third round of the League cup, but yet, i'm still very optimistic, and so should every other Aberdeen supporter!! Why? Well, we have a manager with a very good reputation, Ebbe Skovdahls achievements with Brondby shows what a quality manager he really is - his signings have been amazing, from the very talented Morrocans, Zerouali and Belabed, to the vastly experienced norwegians, Solberg and Stavrum!! Ebbes tactical skills have been doubtful, his 4-3-3 formation was critized by both, local and national newspapers - but there is no doubt ... Read the complete review

There has been a lot of speculation about Ebbe Skovdahl recently, concerning whether he should stay or go. In my opinion he has to stay! 16 months is nowhere near long enough to turn the club`s fortunes around. There has been a steady if not spectacular improvement in the side`s performances since he arrived from Brondby. He has got rid of a lot of dead wood (e.g. Gary Smith, Illian Kiriakov) and brought in some useful recruits (eg. Arild Stavrum, Thomas Solberg). He has this season taken through a lot of youngsters (eg. Darren Mackie, Kevin McNaughton) who will, in my opinion, be future Scotland players. He has had very little cash from the board and freely ... Read the complete review

A lot of Aberdeen fans still claim to support the third best team in Scotland. Well as much as they may want to be the third best club in Scotland I would imagine most of them are realistic enough to know that it just is not the case. This is largely the fault of one man - Ebbe Skovdahl. Over the period of just over a year he has done nothing at the club to turn it around, bar sign a few Scandinavians and a half-decent Morroccan. The club continues to suffer embarrassing defeats and unless the slide is halted the future for Aberdeen does not look good. It does not help that chairman Stuart Milne refuses to see the benefits of investment in players. A ... Read the complete review

Aberdeen fans are not the ones you immediately think of when it comes to reputations of hooliganism. Mindless thuggery isn't what I think of when someone mentions Aberdeen FC. I have to admit that I haven't seen much of them in recent years, however. I watched the 2nd leg of the european tie between Aberdeen and Bohemians of Dublin on August 24th and I saw something I would have thought was confined to the past, or to places like Turkey or South America. Both teams were playing a relatively aggressive (though not really dirty) style. Late in the 1st half one of the Bohemians players committed a late tackle. Aberdeen were awarded a freekick and ...
