Medical definition of the term abortion.

Spontaneous abortion: abortion due to accident or natural causes or environmental factors.
Induced Abortion: deliberate termination of pregnancy.

When I looked at statistics for abortion for 2004. I was shocked. Imagine 75% of UK population killed in one year. It is a staggering number isn't it. 46 MILLION ABORTIONS WERE CARRIED OUT IN 2004. 40% of these were illegal putting women's lives at risk. 26% of pregnancies end up as induced abortions. Russia at 62% has the largest percentage of abortions, Netherlands probably most liberal country in Europe has 10% of pregnancies terminated.

The numbers probably don't mean much to many people. But when you take into consideration that every single foetus has potential to make it as an adult the whole thing becomes mind boggling.

I had never thought of this until I read a report on abortions. Two things come to mind. One is that so many people have sex and secondly so many women are stupid. Sexual emotions probably overtake physical responsibilities.

United Nations in conjunction with every single country in the world has to look at abortion issue and deal with it.

Abortion is not an easy thing for the woman and in some cases for men. Even the toughest of women will at some time look back with regret. It is a psychological thing isn't it. Foetus maybe tiny but it is still significant in a women's life because she is carrying it in her womb and she has been designed to produce babies.

There are pro-life groups and their enemies pro-choice. Both sides feel very strongly about it. Usually most people don't get all the picture. 46 million dead foetus. If foetus had a say they would call it holocaust. I have shifted from pro-choice to slightly pro-life. I consider foetus a life form and thus abortion as an unnecessary death.

Abortion is a complicated issue. Every woman has a story to tell, every situation is different. The world is already crowded. Despite these pro-choice comments I am opposed to abortion unless it is absolutely necessary for medical reasons. Abortion for any reason other than medical is called elective and that should be avoided where ever possible.

I am a man. Some women may different views from what I have written.
