Advantages: Very detailed work!

Disadvantages: none

My action figure collection started last summer. It began with a Rob Zombie figure from the Mcfarlane Rock collection. I hadn't seen it before but just had to have it because I love Rob Zombie!!

Being a big fan of horror movies, and feeling quite impressed at how accurate the fgures looked, I bought most of the Movie Maniacs from series 1-3. I was tempted to buy a few of these before my fascination with them really kicked in, but didn't and found last summer was quite expensive!!

Movie Maniacs Series 1 apparantley didn't sell well when they were first released a couple of them (Species 2 Patrick and Eve) are very rare. (If anyone has them...let me know!) They then re-released Leatherface, Freddy Krueger and
Jason Voorhees. I think these have a splattering of blood on the packaging as I have seen them referred to as "Bloody Versions". I also bought all of series 2 which includes Ghostface, Chucky, Mike Myers and others. Series 3 was released last summer and includes Edward Scissorhands, Snake Plissen and, my favourite, Ash from "Army Of Darkness", complete with chainsaw hand and a book of the dead!

I do have a few that were made by other figure companies such as "Sideshow Toys". While these are detailed, they still do not have the complete realism there as Mcfarlane seems too have.

So how real are they? Well imagine Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Norman Bates (to name but a few) standing in your room...but only a few inches tall!!

They are really well made and do look like mini version of the people!

And if that doesn't explain it then check out their website (www.spawn.com) You will see just how amazing they are.

Prices do tend to vary so shop around for a bit first. Have a look on the net, the local comic shop isn't necessarily the cheapest! They are normally between £10 and £15.

It seems that they want to make figures of Slipknot and Meta
llica. I think they will be quite cool, and later this year are Giger figures from his work (woohoo) and Kid Rock!

It seems that annette14 has a tad interest in collecting action figures!
I'm a Mcfarlane fan, and am into the Spawn figs - they come in useful for my own sculptures, and happen to look really cool on the shelf too!
Top op on a top subject!

I also collect Mcfarlane figures, not the wierd ones though but the Austin Powers collections...which is nearly complete. Roll on Austin Powers 3.
