Advantages: Hopefully you will improve at Bowling !

Disadvantages: Its a bit costly

Tips to improve your bowling:

#1 – Keep your arm straight, always throw parallel to your body, just let the ball flow throw your swing.

#2 - Start in the same position every time, line the right of your right foot, against one of the locater dots on the approach. Then start you approach from that mark every time.

#3 – Use the heaviest ball that you feel comfortable with, obviously don’t go giving a little kid, a big 16lber! Then again getting the right balance of weight and speed is important. I use a 15.5lb, but I have been bowling for a while now, and my arm is used to it. Good luck

#4 – Make sure your shoes fit! I know it may make you feel big by asking the pretty lady behind the desk for a pair of 14’s, but when you slip over and break a bone, you won’t be feeling too big! Just be sensible, and if they don’t fit, take’em back for a better size

As a closing thought I would just like to say to everyone – “GO BOWLING” enjoy it! Bowling in the UK is increasing by the month, and the industry needs YOU. So come on, get down to your nearest alley, don’t forget my tips though!

My Bowling Dictionary:

You just never know when information such as this could come in handy.

What this review is about is basically layman’s terms definitions of all the most common bowling words. This will hopefully help you understand my other bowling opinion better, and generally give you a better understanding of what those bowlers are on about!

STRIKE - All 10 pins are knocked down with your first ball.

SPARE- All 10 pins are knocked over in your 2 balls.

TURLKEY- 3 STRIKES in a row.

DOUBLE- 2 STRIKES in a row.

X-BAGGER- X amount of STRIKES in a row. This could be anywhere between a 4-bagger and a 12-bagger.

PERFECT GAME- 12 strike in a row, starting from frame 1. The jewel in ev
ery bowler’s crown. Most bowlers can only ever dream about this achievement. And yes, I am one of those dreamers, for the time been.

BREAKPOINT- The point at which the ball stops skidding and enought friction is present for the hook imparted on the ball at release to take effect.

REALEASE- The moments the ball leave the bowlers hand.

CRANKER- Bowler who hooks the ball a lot.

STROKER- Bowler who has medium revs.

REVS- Amount of ball revolutions, ie. More REVS = more hook.

CLEAN GAME- Game consisting of only spares and strikes.

DUTCH 200- A game where frames are alternate strike/ spare to finish on 200.

BROOKLYN- Where the bowler pulls his shot and the balls goes left of his mark, this sometimes results in a strike in the 1-2 pocket (The normal pocket for a lefty), this is called a Brooklyn. This name comes from crossing the Brooklyn Bridge.

BIG FOUR- The 4-6-7-10 split, probably the second hardest shot in bowling to convert.

PINSETTER- These are the correct names given to the machine that sets the pins and clears them away after each ball.

PCOKET- This is the position that most bowlers want the ball to hit to get a strike. For right-handers, it refers to a spot between the one and three pins (left handers is between one and two pins).

If you would like any more bowling terms defined, leave a comment and I shall update the opinion!

PS. I have had this opinion moved to this category: the correct one. I have also updated it! Thanks to everyone who has both rated, and re-rated my op.

Ta James

Knew most of that already, but then again I have been bowling for about 15 years! Thanks for leaving a comment on my bowling op... Oh, and I have picked up the "big 4" before :)
