Newest Review: ... Founded as "Boscombe FC" back in 1899, the club managed to achieve League status in 1923, as the renamed "Boscombe and Bournemouth Athletic". Although currently named AFC Bournemouth, it is worth noting that the stadium, and indeed most of the fanbase, are to be found in Boscombe. The current rename occurred in 1972, taking out the name "Bocsombe" entirely ... more

I've lived in Bournemouth for quite a few years now, and while AFC Bournemouth aren't the team I support, I do feel connected to them to an extent. They're the club whose score I check after full time; the club whose destiny is entwined with the mood of most of my friends'! 'The Cherries' are the only club in Dorset who are in the top tiers of English football (although possibly not for much longer - I'll get onto that later). Their football stadium, the Fitness First stadium, is on Kings Park, one of the larger parks in Bournemouth. It holds an amazing funfair in the summer once football season is finished, if anyone's interested! The fans still tend to ...  Read the complete review

My local team is AFC Bournemouth otherwise known as the Cherries. They have been in Division 2 for the last year. The year before that we were in Division 3 but won the playoff final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff 5-2 against Lincoln City, YESSSSSSSSS!!! History - Bournemouth began life as Boscombe St. John's Institute FC in 1890 but dispended in 1899 and reformed as Boscombe FC. The club played in the Bournemouth District Junior League at Castlemaine Avenue in Pokesdown. They moved to the current site in Kings Park in 1902. In 1910, Mr J.E. Cooper-Dean granted the team on a long lease some wasteland in Kings Park. The club thrived and name ...  Read the complete review

Recently it was reported that Manchester United's annual turnover is in excess of 100 million pounds. AFC Bournemouth, the first community-based club in England is desperately searching for funding to enable them to build a new ground. Their Dean Court has seen 100 years of life and is now in need of rebuilding. Funding has been secured for over 3 million pounds but another 1.25 million is still required and it's down to the fans to raise. How sad it is that the likes of Mancheseter United get richer and richer whilst a club at the heart of its local community providing so much to the people of the community is finding it so hard to provide a facility that costs ...  Read the complete review

OK, we may not be the greatest side in the world but for fans of lower league clubs supporting their team means just as much as it does to any fan of any Premier League club. Bournemouth's ground, Dean Court has never been the packed venue that it could be. This, I think is very sad considering that we are the only league club for come distance. Southampton are the nearest and although they are Premier Leaugue finding a ticket is not easy and even then it is very expensive. The ground we have is not in a good state but this is largly down to the numbers who attend the games. With 5000 if we are lucky then it is not really a great surprise that the money is not ...  Read the complete review
