Animal Welfare in general

Newest Review: ... properly punished for it. I have a rescue cat, I don't know much about what had happened to him before, but I do know that his owners had moved out and left him. He was living outside and being fed by the neighbours. He was very, very nervous, didn't like being stroked, didn't play much, hated going outside and was a very nervous little animal. Now, after nearly three years of TLC, he really is a different cat. He's very affectionate and although he is still vary wary of strangers and scared of loud noises, he's so much happier. This to me, says it all about why animals are so great - they make you feel good! I have to say I don't reall... more

I'm one of those people who gets as upset at animal cruelty as I do at human suffering. Animals are so defenceless (well, maybe not crocodiles) and innocent that I just don't understand how anyone can hurt them. Plus some of the sentences/punishments given to people who have tortured animals, are ridiculous. If you hurt an animal, you can hurt a person and you should be properly punished for it. I have a rescue cat, I don't know much about what had happened to him before, but I do know that his owners had moved out and left him. He was living outside and being fed by the neighbours. Now I couldn't find anywhere else to post this and then found the animal welfare section. This review is about animal adoption. Last week one of my guinea pigs sadly passed away, and left him house mate Gordon on his own, anyone who knows anything about Guinea Pigs would know that Guinea Pigs don't like to live on their own, especially when they have been used to living with someone before. We looked at lots of pet shops for another male guinea pig to go with Gordon, but none of the shops had any that looked like they would be friendly enough, they all skitted away, and as in pet shops you cannot take your existing Piggy with you to see ...  Read the complete review

This review will allow the reader to develop a clear and broad knowledge of animal evolution, also explaining the role of breed development through domestication and in breeding animals for specific purposes. Also explained is the differing behaviour patterns and problems throughout the breeds. The species described is a dog and there is depth put into explaining how over 150 completely different breeds have emerged from one ancestor; the wolf. First described will be the evolution and breed development of the dog, then how the dog has been domesticated into the current pets we own. Common behaviour in the domesticated dog will then be compared ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Animal Testing (872 words)

Are drugs really safe for humans after animal testing? Do you really believe it when researchers tell you laboratory animals dont suffer? The NAVS (National Vivisection Society) says that the scientific evidence shows that millions of animals suffer and die in laboratories all over the world - in unreliable, unethical, and unneccessary experiments. Can the rests be trusted? The recent case of test drug TGN1412 which left two men critically ill on life support shows just how misleading animal test data can be. The drug had been given to monkeys in doses 500 times stronger than the human volunteers received without ill effect, but ...  Read the complete review

This was written shorlty after Christmas, so sorry for the delay in posting. But I still want to make people aware of this. Hence my review being posted. Well I thought I would broach the subject, which has been troubling me deeply since watching my local news report last night. On Granada reports last night there was a four week old puppy rotweiller (I?m a rotweiller owner myself so this kind of triggered me off on my rant, sorry) that had been given as a gift for Christmas. Except one problem the person who was fortunate to get this gift wanted a Yorkshire Terrier and hastily abandoned the pup, the puppy was four weeks old. It came into the rescue ...  Read the complete review
