I signed up to work for ann summers thinking it would be a really fun and rewarding job, (BIG MISTAKE)... when i signed up i was told that i would have to go to a team meeting once a week (fair enough) although the meetings were not meetings at all (they were basically a chance for the team leader /manager to sell of the stock she had over bought or had been left with. it took about 3 weeks for my kit to be delivered (to my managers house)<<< strangely... then i had to wait until the next team meeting to get 'issued' the kit. when i got to the meeting the manager sa me down and pulled out an open cardboard box... i didn't think much of it at the time, only when i got home i realised that half of the kit that was listed on the receipts was missing and had been replaced with stock from the previous catalogue :/ (the manager had opened the box and taken out what she wanted and replaced the amount of items she had taken with cheaper stuff!!!.... what they also don't tell you is that they charge you around £4 a week for your kit which they automatically debit your account for... after a couple of weeks of trying my hardest to get parties booked in i was getting nowhere... i had been promised full training yet had absolutely none!!! i had paid out for advertisements in the local newspapers, business cards, even had my own posters and flyers made to hand out and put in the local shops. every sunday you are supposed to phone your manager to give her your 'figures' for the previous week... my manager would be constantly texting me all week until it got to sunday and then not a peep... she didn't answer her phone on a sunday and so i couldn't give her my figures (the ones i did have) i decided to text her my figures most sundays. at one of the following meetings i was singled out and made a show of because according to my manager i never gave her my figures and in front of the rest of the team i was given a 'warning'.... FUMING!!!! if that wasn't enough during another of the team meetings we were supposed to have a one to one meeting with the manager although during the meeting my manager asked for the details of the parties that i had booked into my diary for the next 6 weeks, i had around 11 parties booked in (the most that i had ever had booked) being new to the job i didn't think anything of giving her the details until a few days later when i got a phone call from a friend that i had booked a party for the following week... she said that she had just had a phone call from another ann summers party planner telling her that if she swapped her party to have it with her that she would give her all sorts of goodies... after phoning around a few of the other party hostesses i had booked in they had all had the same phone call!!! I WAS LIVID.... after around 6 months of working for ann summers and earning all of around £50 :/.... i decided that enough was enough, i was sick of all the hassle...it was costing me more to work for them than i was actually earning despite my best efforts... i have worked 'self employed' selling the avon for over 3 years and absolutely loved every minute although i have never experienced anything like working for ann summers.... when i decided to stop working for them i was told that i had to give my kit back (or goods amounting to the original worth of the kit)... annoying as when i received my kit i had been had off by my own manager.. still i wanted out and so packed up the kit plus an extra £25 worth of stuff and boxed it up. I had three options to send the kit back i could post it (the box was massive and heavy and postage would have cost a lot), give it to my manager to send back (as if i could trust her)... or arrange for the ann summers courier to pick it up from my house (that sounded the safest option)... when the courier arrived i asked him for a receipt to say that he had picked up the package and was told that they don't issue receipts... i told him i wasn't letting him take it unless he gave me a receipt, so to his dismay he wrote on the bottom of a sorry we missed you card *1 package collected from (first line of my address) and his signature* i thought fair enough iv got proof iv sent it back and thought nothing else of it.... that was until 6 months later when i started receiving letters in the post saying that i was owing ann summers obscene amounts of money because according to them they hadn't received my kit back and i had outstanding charges on my account... NO EFFING WAY!!! i checked my account and found loads of transations that i had never seen before coming from the last couple of months (some were for at least £500 a time!!! the delivery address i had never heard of) and none of which had been paid for!!!..... after hundreds of calls to ann summers and visits to solicitors (causing me to lose more money) a year and half later and i am still battling with ann summers trying to clear my name!!! iv had letters through the post threatening with bailiff action, court action, (sooo much stress). my solicitor and I researched and found around 20 other girls in my area alone that have had similar experiences and have contacted them to come forward and take action against this shamble of a company!!!!! i swear i will clear my name.... i have never been treated anything like this in all my life... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO WORK FOR ANN SUMMERS!!!!! EVER!!!!!!
I worked for Ann Summers party plan for a long time! To start with it was good and as long as you put in LOTS of effort and work hard you can become one of their serious top earners with cars etc. but there are 3.5% serious high earners in this job out of the 7,500 organisers they boast so I really do mean a LOT of hard work to achieve success. I ended up working 60+hrs a week to keep up with my car and earnings and with a "downline" of other teams I had promoted I did very well BUT when you stop and look at the numbers of what you are actually earning (after being encouraged to build further teams into your downline) my hourly rate worked out to less than the minimum wage!!! Family moaning at me cos they never saw me any more - more and more meetings to attend (which of course you pay for your fuel when they are sending you to meetings an hour from home, let alone child care for the day!). As a UO we are pressurised to make sure we take on a minimum of 2 new recruits a month and "bank" (which means how much money you've paid to the company for goods) £1300 every month or you lose your company car, your bonus and lose out on the big competitions and the big "Crown Circle" annual event (which is what every UO strives for). During the day your "full-time" work is to chase the team's debt, chase new recruits and put pressure on them to join (especially if you haven't already found 2 for the month already!), chase your team to make sure they're finding new recruits for you, create competitions for your team, monitor team competitions, monitor company competitions ready to pass back to your area manager plus of course your personal business (hostess coaching, packing, ordering, delivering etc.) and keeping your accounts etc. so there's a LOT to do, then evening comes round and if you are not doing a party yourself, don't think you have the night off! You have to be available for party cover (to find party cover through contacting your team members which can take up to an hour or until you get a taker for the party) and constantly I'd receive emails from my area manager asking for information by 9am (quite frequently after 9pm at night!) so it really felt like working 24/7 on the business and there was never time off! On a Sunday you have to take figures from all your team - larger teams take longer but the smaller start off teams can take 1-2hrs. Any party organisers that don't contact you - you are EXPECTED to contact them and chase them for their figures (taking even more time!). Now, that all can sound quite negative BUT I can say that my first couple of years with the company were lovely and I met a great deal of ladies that were lovely to work with and great customers BUT as a well qualified individual it seemed ridiculous to keep a "job" like this when I could earn double the money with half the hours by taking a conventional job (worked well while I had an under 5 at home) and yes, it is true you can earn good money with Ann Summers party plan BUT please don't get caught out with the tax man as I've seen that happen so often where organisers got into trouble with councils, benefits and Inland Revenue for not reporting their income! The other thing that I must say is that however enjoyable the job was while doing it - on leaving I have found the same problems as others in these reviews whereby I'm being charged for things I definitely do not owe the company, they didn't accept my £500 kit return (after working for them for 8 years I had earned them over £4.5million in revenue so a bit insulted!) and told me I still owed them money and they would take me to court for the remaining AND start adding charges..........please beware of this as you don't actually sign a credit agreement with the company so to add credit charges to any balance surely is not allowed??! Hope you all make an informed decision - just tread carefully!
I started out as a party organiser 4 years ago. My unit organiser is fantastic and taught me how to get parties and how to do parties. I recieved a starter kit and struggled to find my first parties but I didn't give up. It took me about a month to get going but eventually I had my very first party, I was a bag of nerves; but by the end of the night I had two bookings £40 cash in my hand and I felt Like I'd found where I belonged. Now four years on I can honestly say I love my job. I pride myself on good service and enjoy nothing more than a good giggle with the girlies. Now I don't really have to try and find parties ladies contact me, I really feel I'm in a place now where I can do the things I want to, and my job really allows me the flexibility to do that. I am part of an amazing team and my manager is first class. I know some people have a bad experience, but I guess that's because they maybe gave up to quickly or lost contact with their manager. Sure parties cancel all of the time, yet I still manage to pay my bills and live a good life. Ann summers is my only source of income and I am registered self employed, so you see you can make it work if you want to, but I'm my experience its down to the attitude of the person and not just the company you work for.
I was signed up quickly to become an ann summers party planner through a friend who had been part of ann summers party plan for a while, I quickly got parties booked in but as I do not drive it was difficult to travel far! I had to attend meetings every month through in kilmarnock which was not cheap. Then my parties kept cancelling and I was spending more money than I was making. After a few months I decided ann summers was not for me so I quit at the end of june & paid off my outstanding balance of around £30. After waiting over 2 months and having still not heard from head office I decided to phone them. I had my kit packed up and ready to be picked up since just after I quit. I was told on the phone that my leavers form was only processed on the 5th september which is a complete joke, they also said I owe them money for kit rental which I will not be paying as I paid of wh I owed them when I quit. I was told someone would be out to collect my kit yesterday the 10th september so I had to take the day off work to ensure I was in when it was collected. No one turned up! So not only did I lose out on a days wage I was stuck in the house all day. I was then woken up this morning by a vile man who came to collect my kit, I complained to him about what had happened and he could not offer any explanation! I have tried to phone head office but keep getting put on hold! I would like to warn anyone thinking about joining ann summers party plan that it is more hassel than its worth! Do not become part of this company as it is a complete and utter joke! I plan on taking my complaint further as I am completely appaled by the way I have been treated!
When I first looked into Party Organising I thought it sounded fantastic. I'm a student in quite a small town so finding a job is difficult, however I have a car so I thought it would be great as I can travel. When I started up, everything had to be sent to my home address which was 300 miles away as Ann Summer's just don't consider accomodations issues if you're a student, this meant I wasn't getting a lot of my post (which tbh they sent out FAR too much mail all about the same stuff, it was very annoying). But I was told to come to one of the Unit Meetings to gain some information about being a party organiser, from that night I wasn't told any information (particularly any of the hidden charges) and was quickly signed up before I had time to consider it. At the Unit Meetings I was informed I'd have to pay £10 (I'm still unsure why) and then they attempted to sell me stock they had bought too much of. I was given no assistance in trying to book parties, and was constantly texted/phoned/emailed by the Unit Manager, and alot of the information was useless. I then began to realise money being debited from my account (about £4.50 a week I think, it was last summer so I can't remember) and when I enquired they said it was a weekly kit charge, I had been charged for two weeks that I never had my kit! I also never had a training party, the girls seemed too busy to look at any new starters and didn't really bother trying to help me out. So I tried booking a few parties and got some booked, so I'd send out the leaflets they told me to and all of the required information that was needed to send, however my customers cancelled their parties and I eventually gave up the Ann Summers dream, then further hassle started. I had bought some items from Ann Summers, so to replace the leaflets I had sent out with the party bookings, I included these items to ensure my kit was up to the amount they sent out (I only needed to include a couple pounds worth of stuff but put in about £15) and then it turned out I ended up having to pay £18.90 to make my kit up to the required amount (which is definitely not true as nothing else was missing from my kit). When the couriers came to collect my kit they did so innappropriately, two men (knowing they were picking up an Ann Summers collection) were asking what was inside the box and if I had used any of it. I felt utterly sick at the way I was treated. Overall embarking on a potentially money-making scheme left me about £100 out of pocket, I'm very disappointed with the lack of assistance and the lack of information given to people who are considering starting up. Really only take this opportunity if you know you can have a lot of parties as you'll need about 2 or 3 a week to make any profit.
I have been with Ann Summers as a party organiser now for about 3 months, and it is a nightmare. To begin with, it was not so bad, I did 1-2 parties per week, and it fit nicely around my time at University. However, the problems began when I was moved under the management of a new Unit Organiser. Despite myself adhering to the contract and managing my parties perfectly well, she harasses me consistently at all hours, from past midnight to 7 in the morning, weekdays and weekends, trying to encourage me to take one of her parties off her hands or to tell me I need more parties in my six week line up, or that £60 worth of sales (in one student party with low attendance) is not good enough and that my sales skills are not up to scratch. If I tell her I am away at a weekend she will call about five times to find out when I am back, and when I am in lectures I will pick up my phone to find no less than 6 missed calls from her sometimes. Then there is the Facebook stalking, where she checks that I am where I have said that I am rather than taking my word for it. She tries to bully me into doing parties which require me to pay £25 for a taxi because she can't find anyone to look after her children that night, and worst of all she has now started to dictate when I can go home during University holidays, and when I can book breaks. Being an Ann Summers PO is far more stress than it is worth, and I suggest if you don't want to be screamed at 24/7 by a neurotic Unit Organiser trying to utilise you to boost her own earnings then do not do this 'job'.
I am so sorry you have had problems with delivery and other things. Most of us prize ourselves on our customer care and are never late (infact early). I am really disappointed that some ladies are giving the Ann Summers brand a bad name. There are some fantastic party organizers out there including me ha ha. I pride myself on customer care and giving the ladies at my party the best time. Once again i am sorry you had a bad experience.
I hosted an Ann Summers party at my house on 12th November 2010, it is now the 14th Dec 2010 and I am still no wiser as to when items will be received!! After my party the organiser Susan - received orders to the value of 251.00 pounds. I was told that all the items would be delivered by Susan in a few days time. I waited almost 2 weeks and still had not received anything at all from the organiser. I rang her on a daily basis and was told every day that she would deliver the items the next day. This went on for 5 days, each day she would not turn up and when i would try and ring her, she would either put the phone down or would not answer at all. I finally managed to get hold of her on the 6th day which was approximately the 26th November, 2 weeks after the day of my party. During this time all payments had been taken from people's bank accounts and all cash had been paid. When she delivered the items, 2 people's orders were out of stock and 2 other peoples orders had not yet been delivered to her at all, I was told the items which were out of stock would be sent directly to their home address and the items which had not been delivered would be sent via courier to me the following Friday. It is now a further 2 weeks, 4 weeks in total since my Anne Summers party and none of the above mentioned goods have been received. I have rang the organiser many many times over the last 2 weeks, but her phone is conveniently off every time i ring her! I have spoke to the customer services department many times, I was told that the out of stock items are now in stock but they were unable to tell me whether they had been despatched or not, I was also told that the customers whose orders had not been received at all, would have to ring the customer services department themselves! My niece rang them was told that there was no record whatsoever of her order!!! She informed the adviser she would like a full refund back onto her debit card, but was told that this was not possible, she would either have to settle for vouchers or for the goods to be re-sent out to her! I have since rang Ann Summers a further 6 times, still seem to be going round and round in circles and cannot get any clear answer, the agents phone is now permenantly switched off!!! I am amazed by the poor service we have received by a large company with such an "apparently" good reputation! I think the service we have received has been extremely unprofessional! I will also ensure that I will never ever use Anne Summers again and will use one of their competitors instead!!!! I am still no wiser as to when any of the remaining goods will be received!
I had been to a few Anne Summers parties hosted by my friends and my sister and thought it was alot of fun. A whole house of girls having a drink, relaxing, playing silly games and of course having a good look through the latest ann summers catalogue and trying on the lingerie! So i decided i would host one myself, just for a laugh and of course i'd considered that i would get my discount from my own order. When my rep Stacey arrived she had hardly any of the kit with her (she said she had lent it out to a load of her friends to wear for fancy dress) and she hadn't brought any prizes for the games but promised she would write down who had won and send them with the orders. The party was overall a bit of a let-down, Stacy wasnt exactly what i had in mind for a rep, she didnt seem very interested in the party or the games we played and i got the feeling she was "just doing what she had to" and definately wasnt like any of the friendly, bubbly reps from the other parties i'd attended. At the party my friends and family ordered over £150 worth of stuff, and Stacy arranged with me to deliver the items when a few of the card payments had been made and Ann Summers had delivered them to her. About 4 or 5 weeks later i hadn't heard back from her, the card payments had gone out on the dates they were supposed to and i couldnt get hold of her by phone. I'd heard that 2 friends that had attended my party had organised ones of their own (also meaning i should have recieved a hostess gift) so asked them to question her about my orders. A few weeks later my friend informed me that at her party Stacy had pulled out the order forms from MY party and showed them to the other party guests (privacy or what!?) and told my friend that only £40 of orders had been made at mine, and that no card payments had been made.she also said that she wasnt going to waste any of her time or fuel in her car to deliver my items to me.she also told my friend she had a new number and gave it to her. When my partner at this time heard what she had said, he got pretty angry and got her new number from my friend. He rang her and confronted her about where my orders were, and she was very rude but said that she would deliver them the next day...I wasnt surprised when she didnt turn up! I was also getting alot of hassle off my party guests about where their orders were (understandably! i was the host!) and i had to embarassingly keep making excuses for Stacy. I got very upset when i heard that Stacy had called my best friend Kerry (that had also organised a party with her) and told her that my partner had rang her and that he had said Kerry had "slagged her off"..yeah so its a bit of one of those "she said that he said that she said" cliches but who did she think she was..!? after arranging for her to deliver the orders two more times and her not turning up, and also trying to make my friends fall out with me i got very angry and rang the Ann Summers head office to complain. I left her details and they told me that she had since been suspended as an Ann Summers rep since not long after my party and that none of my orders even existed. She had basically pocketed the money. I asked what could be done and was told that i could be refunded the payments that had gone through by card, but that the cash because it had never gone to them, there was nothing they could do.And i know its not much but they said i couldnt have any discount on my order which i was supposed to get £15 off or any of the prizes from my party. I was really disappointed and annoyed, and demanded that there must be something they could do for all the hassle and upset i had had to go through, just because of an Ann Summers party and was told refunding the card payments was all they would do. Can you imagine how bad i felt when i had to explain to members of my family and friends that they wernt going to recieve the things they had ordered, or get the money back unless they had been lucky enough to pay by card. I will never make the mistake of having a Anne Summers Party again. I lost friends over it and alot of money. And as for customer services i was horrified that they really couldnt give a monkeys about me being scammed in my own home by somebody representing their company. And then having her telling lies to my friends and invading my privacy by showing strangers my order forms at another party! I really think its put me off shopping in ann summers aswell, ive never bought anything from them since..what if i got a faulty item and they refused to give me a refund? I think their customer services were useless. And as for Stacy the rep from hell, i really dont know what i did to upset her or make her treat me like that.Hopefully shes not still longer out there recking..sorry i mean repping the Ann SUmmers parties!
Hi I am an Ann Summers Party Organiser. I would like to respond to some of the reviews from the ladies who have had difficulty obtaining their goods through the party plan route. I am one of the organisers who believe that good customer service is paramount as this brings me repeat business. To be successful I have to look after my customers and there are others out there like myself. We are all Self Employed and offer a really good party followed by exceptional service for your delivery and any follow up that is necessary. However there are some party organisers who get themselves into difficulty and this spoils the reputation of the party plan for other organisers like myself. I make a point of telling all ladies at my parties the details for myself and those of my Unit Organiser (my boss) this way if there are any issues you have a line of responsibility. Head Office have not been very helpful in situations historically because they have no record of any payments or orders if the party organiser has messed up in any way. My advice is to use someone who you know or have heard of from someone else to do your party. Word of mouth is always the best way to gain confidence when buying anything. Failing that have a look on facebook and read a little of what the other girls who have had parties say about the lady who is planning to do your party. It is a real shame that some of you ladies out there are now too scared to have a party and will only buy from the shop. You are missing out on so much fun. I personally allow anyone who is truly not confident about paying up front the opportunity of paying on receipt of their order obviously I cannot do this to every girl as Head Office will not release the order unless payment has been received but now and again I am happy to pay it in first so trust works both ways. I hope this is helpful. If you live in Essex or Suffolk and would like to book a party with me please feel free to look me up on facebook, or call me on 07538 476159 Regards Mary Johnson
I have attended many Ann Summers parties and even hosted a few with my friend who is a party organiser. Ann Summers is a great way to get all the ladies together and have a laugh and few drinks.. I am not going to say it is cheap as you need money for raffle tickets, sweepstakes and some money to buy something from the catalogue. Ok you dont need to buy anything from the catalogue but you want to get your friend something for free dont you? Being a hostess was good and it does make money, for 2 hours work and walking away with a minimum of £50 a night, you can do this both Friday and Saturday. The most my friend has walked away with in a night is £300 for one nights work, cant complain. So the parties themselves.... Get all the ladies together, have some drinks and nibbles prepared... Your party organiser will arrive with all the outfits and display contents to have a look at, the organiser will set all this up. She will introduce herself and let you know the benefits of working with Ann Summers as well as holding a party. The hostess most usually gets a gift as well for holding the party. The parties kick off with a game... these games vary and are hilarous... Each person at the party is given a pretend name for the night and if the organiser hears you calling someone by any other name they will be given a forfeift.... The organiser will then go through the catalogue and show the outfits for people to try on.. Then any display items such as vibrators, jewellery, etc.... will be passed around.. Guests can ask the organiser if she has any questions and the organiser will be more than happy to answer this for you, if she does not know then she will find someone who will know.. The night will go on and guests will place orders, the organiser will then work out how much the hostess gets to spend free in the book.. Games and the raffle will happen throughout the night.. Payment is on the night and delivery is a week later. Remember any item bought can be sent back providing this has not been used or worn... Items can be expensive...
I attended an Ann Summers party in East Dulwich on the 20th March 2010. The party itself was good fun and the organizer (a young woman named Naomie) was a very good party organizer. She had a lot of the products with her and was highly knowledgeable about the Ann Summers range. There were several party games with the chance to win prizes and a raffle at the end of the night. The party was attended by 9 ladies including the party host my friend Leiza. Most of the ladies made orders and we were told that as there was one lady present without her bank details the items would be ordered for us as soon as those details were received and the items would arrive at our homes approximately one week after that. The following week the bank details were duly submitted and then we waited. And waited. And waited. We contacted the organizer only to discover that her mobile telephone number was out of service!!! After a month of waiting I contacted Ann summers and spoke to a lady called Judy (a complaints officer) who when I explained what had happened told me that the organizer Naomie would contact my friend Leiza. I was not happy so I called her back and said I wanted to know what was happening and that I was phoning on behalf of the group and we wanted at least to know if the items had been ordered. Judy then admitted that the items had not even been ordered and that she was waiting for Naomie to email over the order details and then she would have the items sent out. True to her word the items were sent out and I received my items the following week. Others in the group had to wait another month before their items were received. Leiza on the other hand is still waiting for a partial refund as some of her items could not be delivered. (No phone call from Naomie was ever received) When I queried the Ann Summers process (because if I had not phoned the items would never have been sent) I was told that the organizers were self -employed individuals!! That is really no excuse for poor customer service and to add insult to injury there were no letters of apology or vouchers offered in way of recompense. I will still purchase Ann Summers products but will ensure that I always buy them from a shop as the party route can be unreliable. Ann Summers is a Worldwide brand and I expected a far better service from them. Sherine
I have been to many many many Ann Summers parties in the past and each one has been different in their own little way. The party very much depends on who is present and one of the most important people at the Ann Summers party is the actual Ann Summer Consultant, also the host. She or he, but usually she is the one who decides what games you will play, who will embaress themselves and to what extremes the direction of the party will take. I have been to Ann Summers partys, where it has been very mild.. solely where we wear nametags with rude nicknames and play a few slightly rude games. There have been other parties, where we all dress in costumes and go knocking on neighbours doors asking for normal items, such as batteries but ask for them to place in our vibrators etc, but whilst wearing our saucy costumes. I have even been to an Ann Summers party, where we were all made (not in a forceful way) to put on some saucy costumes and do a little walk around the streets. Lets just say Im glad the party wasnt in my neighbourhood! At Ann Summers parties, the consultants always have to sell things from the catalogue otherwise they would be hosting the party for free. This part of the party can sometimes get sour when the consultant solely concentrates on selling items and not having any fun. I usually feel reluctant to buying items from these reps, as I dont think they have the best interest of their clients, but they make it obvious too. Ann Summers is not a cheap shop to buy from and therefore, I feel that a good service should be provided before buying from them. The range of items Ann Summer has is actually really good, depending on what your looking for of course. However it does need to be noted that it is quite expensive. Their range of items include: underwear, bras, corsets, accessories, vibrators, costumes for men and women, sweets, massage oils, books, dvds and much more! If you are looking for an Ann Summers party, whether it be mild or wild, your best getting a recommended consultant or one that you can specify what you want. As mentioned Iv been to both mild and wild - of course the wilder ones are more fun, but thats all down to personal preference.
