Advantages: fun, demonstrations and games
Disadvantages: grumpy rep
I went along to an Ann Summers party in 2004, as my friends' sister was organising one because she wanted to add another party on to her hen night celebrations...
So, she invited about 20 female friends to her house, got some finger food and drinks available and everyone waited quite excitedly for the Ann Summers representative.
As I'd never been to one of these parties before, I wasn't sure what to expect. All in all, everyone looked pretty happy and relaxed and there to have a fun evening.
So, the girl finally came, looking slightly over tired and not too smiley. That didn't damped the mood of the other girls, until she announced why she was so down. This lady was in her early 30's and didn't look like she could really be bothered to do herself up to look nice for this party. Along with my friends' sister, she was the host after all. She mumbled something to us about her other half messing her about and that's the reason why she got sent to do this party and hadn't everything gone wrong for her, she would've spent the evening having a nice meal in with her man.
Ok, so that wasn't expected. She still got the girls to participate in the games and everyone seemed to be having enough fun. I think the main reason why everyone was ignoring the grumpy rep, was that they didn't want to dampen the mood for my friends' sis, as she had tried so hard to make it a fun, cheerful evening for everyone.
So, apart from the grumpy rep who didn't really want to be there... it was a pretty good party and quite a hit in the end. I think if anyone was going to have a party like this next, they'd specifically ask that anyone other than this grumpy lady hosted it.
Summary: Ann Summers, never send out grumpy reps again PLEASE
