Advantages: Lower Standards cause more problems
Disadvantages: None
OK, obviously a subject that a lot of people have a view on I would have thought. But here is my two pence worth.
Firstly, when looking at Censorship laws you should consider why we have them, namely to try and keep a certain moral code in place in this country. When looking at this country we see moral standards slipping all the time, so why should we consider reducing standards further still.
I am sure that there has to be a link between what we allow children to see on TV and their behaviour at school, in the home and everywhere else.
After all we have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the world, we have violence in our schools and generally it is becoming a more horrible place to live by the day.
Why reduce censorship laws and make it easier to show more violence, more sex or bad language on TV and elsewhere. Who would actually benefit from this?
I am sure that there are a number who would like to see the laws relaxed, but I just cannot agree.
I am sorry if this comes across as a bit of a rant, but I do feel quite strongly about this.
Summary: Please do not reduce censorship laws.

- 16/03/06 Very good thoughts and I must agree with you wholeheartedly. However, I believe the slip in morals is a much greater problem because as a whole Britain has wilfully chosen to ignore the God Who gave the morals! This then results in the inevitable attitude of "who cares, just let us do what we think pleases us regardless of what or how it affects others!" |

- 14/03/06 They are slipping and the bad part about it is that even in the school system they are showing what most people would consider pornography to the children. It's not only on the tv but in the school system! Something must change or our country will go downhill. |

- 13/03/06 I am amazed at some of the ratings awarded by the British Board of Censorship - I think you'll find that "standards" are already slipping. richard. |
