Advantages: Freedom of choice, Pay to view

Disadvantages: Available to children if they get the pin number

It goes without saying that children should be protected against sex, violence and bad lanquage, but having said that it is then down to good parenting as to what children watch and see and read.

Many children are subjected to bad language in the home and nearly all children will hear it in the playground or in the parks.

There cannot be many that dont look up the "naughty words" in their first dictionary and who try to use the words in the home to see if they get away with it.

When it comes down to censurship of television programmes there is such a thing as a channel change button or even an on/off switch if the programme that is on is deemed to be offensive.

I think that it should be down to individual preferences as to what people watch in their own homes.

It is now possible with the advent of Digital television to watch films of a pornagraphic nature if you so wish and you have to pay for the privalage. This I think has gone a long way to help in keeping it out of the general viewing of people who maybe would be offended.

Also many programmes now do say before they are screened that there is sex violence or offensive language in them.

I personally cannot see the problem with watching violent or sexually explicit nature it does not make me want to go and kill or rape anyone although I do realise that this may be a problem to some maladjusted people.

It may seem like it doesn't affect the viewer but it does. In some way it does desensitice (spelling) the viewer and you don't feel as outraged/upset when you watch so much of horrific things. Take 11/9, by the 30th screening of the plane crash did you feel as upset?

Well 10 ops posted and yet not one op rated by you, bit of a one sided deal :-)
