Advantages: You can scare your friends at halloween in your haunted house.

Disadvantages: They dont do my washing.

Are ghosts real...who knows? Certainly unexplained things happen all the time. A lot of people, when hearing of paranormal activity, suggest coincidence. Quite often they cant prove that either, just suggest other possibilites.

I have had far too many things happen not to believe. The most recent all of 4 nights ago.

My three month old sleeps in his own room beside ours. We have the Tommee Tippee sure sound classic monitor. If you google it, you will see the parent monitor is a little holder with an egg shaped monitor placed in it. The baby monitor is a console with a flip up attachment. To pick up signal, the flip up attachment must be up, or the parent monitor loses signal and starts to beep as a warning. The monitor was brand new and is 1 month old.

4 nights ago, i put my wee man down at 7pm as normal. He will then sleep till 10pm before his last feed for the night. His monitor was flipped up of course. At 8pm I heard him grizzling through the parent monitor, so all was working as normal, left him to it and after a few minutes he was sleeping soundly. About 9pm my husband and i put hell boy 2 on. At 9.15pm, the parent monitor began to sound its warning bleep. The only other time it does that is if it is running out of battery, but as it was plugged into its adapter, this wasnt the case.

It had never happened before, so i presumed perhaps a little glitch, tried turning it off and on, replaced the batteries just in case. Still it bleeped on. Eventually i said to my husband, right, the only other possibility is the baby monitor has been flipped down. He said, of course, but Max, noone has been in his room since he went down at 7pm. I said i know. As it was coming up till ten and i left the wee man till his normal waking time, parent monitor bleeping away. At 10pm I went in to wake him for his last feed, and sure enough the monitor had been flipped down.

I decided to test it out. As soon as i raised it back up, the parent monitor stopped bleeping. As soon as i put it back down, the parent monitor started bleeping. Without a doubt, at 9.15pm that night, it had been closed down. Being brand new, the hinge was in no way loose, it needs quite a bit of pressure. There was just me and my husband and my two toddlers both fast asleep in their beds, neither of us having been in his room between 7pm and 10pm. How did it happen? I have absolutely no idea, and cannot come up with any reasonable coincidence that may have occured.

The week before that, i was running a bath for my toddlers. I didnt have towels so i shut the bathroom door, just incase my toddlers wandered in whilst the tap was still running. They were both in the lounge with my husband. I got the towels, in the airing cupboard in the same hall about 6 steps up from the bathroom. As i went back to the bathroom to open the door, i actually banged my head on it so sure was I that it would open, why wouldnt i be? But no...it wouldnt open...because it had been locked. The lock is one of those that you need a penny to turn it from the outside of the door. It is very stiff. My initial reaction was that one of my toddlers or my husband had done it. On asking him they had all been sat together watching the cbeebies bed time hour. How did it happen? I have no idea. Another one i cant come up with coincidences for.

So...with just those two of many things that have happened to me, since i was 7 years old. Do i believe in ghosts? I have never seen one thats for sure. I think if i did, i would get the fright of my life. Yet i cant say i dont believe in them. When thinsg like the above happen, and you cant come up with coincidences, what else is there to think?

I am not scared of death and dying, nor do i need to believe our loved ones stay with us in some way when they pass over. Some strange things have happened however, so my logical mind suspects that ghosts...just might be real. However if they want to stake out my house, they could at least make themselves useful and do my washing for me, instead of locking doors and flipping down monitors. Thats small time!

Summary: Dont knock them, you might be one yourself one day! (then you can come do my washing!)
