The age old question - who is brighter? In my experience (I've just finished my A Levels this year and achieved a shocking C, D, and an E in English, Physics and Maths respectively) girls and boys are of relatively equal intelligence. There is no huge line between the two, there are always boys who are more intelligent that some girls and visa versa.

What I have noticed during my schooling, particularly during the most recent years of my education, is that girls tend to try harder than boys, and boys tend to prat around more than girls. Of course, there are exceptions but I know more girls who did their absolute best than I do boys, and they were rewarded with better grades as a result. Generally, boys tend to mess around more in classes, (often trying to impress the girls!) and so don't do as much work, and do as well as the aforementioned girls. Girls tend to mature more quickly at school/college and generally realise that it's important to work hard throughout the year, rather than the six weeks before an exam period.

I wouldn't like to speculate as to why girls try harder than boys and why in general, girls recognise the importance of hard graft and revision more than their sexual opposites.

To summarise, neither sex is significantly more intelligent than the other, it's purely a case (in my opinion) of harder work coupled with a more mature attitude - but this could beg the question, is this due to a higher intelligence....

(I really shouldn't end my opinion like this - I'm a bloke!)

Boys and girls are equally bright (and dim). It is all down to attitude.
