Of course it appears that the intellects of the genders mature at different rates, and that the girls have a "start". It should be balanced out by age 18 though, and we're looking for another explanation. Note that at the point of degree results, men still outperform women. In my opinion it's really very simple. Many primary school teachers are women. The majority of University tutors are men. Men and women think in different ways. (I don't know what different ways, they just do). Do a test. Take some some people you know to an area they haven't seen before. Ideally get 12 men and 12 women. Take 6 of the women and six of the men from part of the area to another, asking them to pay attention to the way. Take them back, and then get 3 of the women you've taken to explain the way to 3 of the women you haven't, and the others to 3 of the men, and vice versa. They will arrive in something like the following order 1st: The men who had it explained to them by men (probably. Men tend to outperform on spatial awareness things) 2nd: The women who had it explained to them by women. 3rd: The women who had it explained to them by men 4th: The men who had it explained to them by women. There are other explanations, of course - that boys are encouraged to do more other stuff (go out and play football etc) when young, than girls, who read more, but by the time you go to university you've decided for yourself whether you're sporty, musical etc or not, and there are more distractions. That there are fewer women than men at most universities, and that therefore a larger percentage of the women are in sexual relationships. Sexual relationships at university are an emotional, temporal and physical drain, and can affect performance. Looking forward to this discussion jdcxxx
