Medicine and surgery owe a deep debt of gratitude to scientific who discovered the secrets of atomic energy. I personally have interest in the nuclear ignition. So that is why I have a diploma related to practical chemistry and physics. I have read many materials about the atomic attacks on the cities on Japan during the Second World War. The discovery of atomic energy is one of the greatest scientific discoveries of the present age. We can use it for destructive or constructive purposes. If we use it for the settlement of our disputes. It will obliterate the traces of humanity from the earth. If we are sensible in its use, it will bring in prosperity for the suffering and ailing humanity. In the constructive sphere, the atomic energy can work miracles. The use of atomic energy for medical purposes can cure those diseases which were once considered incurable. Radium can be used in the destruction of abnormal tissues and cancer. Radio-therapy is an important branch of medical ...  Read the complete review

~ ~ I was only an eleven-year-old schoolboy back at the time of the Cuban missile crisis in October 1962, which is still the closest the world has come to all out nuclear conflict since the end of the 2nd World War in 1945. I was very, very scared, and expected Russian thermo-nuclear warheads to rain down upon myself and my parents at any given moment, especially as we lived just across the Firth of Forth from Rosyth, the huge Royal Naval dockyard, and RAF Leuchars, both based in Fife, Scotland. These would have been prime targets for nuclear attack by the then USSR to disable the possible British nuclear response had a war actually broken out. The then UK ...  Read the complete review

I’m 100% behind the UK keeping nukes, regardless of the cost. The reason I say that is not because of future nuclear war threats but because the missiles are the reason we have power. Like the Olympics it’s all about prestige and status in the world, and by having Trident we can stop the Muslim world with all the oil having some tork to use that wealth. The UK has no real solid economic power any more. Most of our wealth is tied up in land, the City of London and oil companies. A nuclear weapons program helps create an illusion, a hologram if you like, that we are still a big player in the world. Blair didn’t attack Iraq for tactical or democracy reasons, he ...  Read the complete review

Are nuclear deterents still necessary? In one simple answer - YES ABSOLUTELY! Why? In my opinion this country still needs nuclear weapons to keep the country as safe as possible. Lets look back over the last 70 years! I think everyone will agree that one reason that the Soviet Union never invaded Western Europe was the Nuclear deterrant that the West had. Therefore it is clear that Nuclear Weapons do work as a deterent against a super power. OK, I hear what a number of you are probably saying now, the Soviet Union is no more and the threat to this country has changed. Rather than one superpower threatening us, we have Global ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Are Nuclear Deterents still needed in the UK?: Nukes are essential. (187 words)

Yes, you never know what happens. There are large sections of community who probably are hostile in times of war against certain nations. Although this has no bearing on having nukes. We have to consider security of our nation with few facts. Danger is unseen. Previous wars were against Germans or French. Future is different, home grown terrorism, advance in technology. We need nukes to avoid hostile nations making us a target. We have nukes, they don't. So they don't want to mess with us. Another thing that we to think about is that when second world war happened, vast majority believed in one faith and had same outlook on life. In the last 50 ...  Read the complete review
