Advantages: A team in dissarray
Disadvantages: Totally silent fans
Saturday was my first visit to Villa Park and saw my team (Liverpool) beat Aston Villa quite convincingly 3 - 0. I was amazed by the silence inside the ground! I know that they lost, but at Liverpool, when we go a goal down us kopites get behind the team and sing louder, not just sit there wallowing. Liverpool were the best team on the day, but Villa fans should get behind their team otherwise they'll never get anywhere. It's all very well slagging of Doug Ellis and John Gregory, but fans need to support their players in times of crisis (though I wouldn't call it a crisis). What's the old saying? The fans can be our twelfth man. It was almost embarrising for us as we sang our hearts out without any kind of response from the Villans, hence our tongue in cheek "Sshhhh!" On the day they were quieter than Manchester United fans - and that's saying something!!!! Fans count to teams!

- 14/06/01 liverpool fans are hardly the most vocal in the country. i suppose the atmosphere gets better the further you get in the uefa cup though, as more and more part time fans actually bother to turn up for the games. |

- 16/01/01 I'm a villa fan all the way but I admit we are quiet at the minute. When I first went to the villa I was shocked how loud they were but now it holds nothing but disappointed. Something need to be done before everyone stops losing interest. |
