There is a buzz around my work place as I write...everyone is talking about the World Trade Centre plane crash.

I heard the news after I overheard a work collegue telling someone else that two planes had crashed into the World Trade Centre. The lady just laughed at the remark at first in disbelief. How could not one, but two, planes crash into one building? It is just simply unbelievable! I decided to investigate to see whether there was any truth in this story and sure enough all over the net, there were live broadcasts of the destruction that has hit America. I just read in disbelief...trade centre exploding, planes crashing, planes hijacked, the White House evacuated...Canary Wharf evacuated! Its too hard to take in!

However, its been an hour since I found out about it and already there is so much speculation and 'gossip' spreading like wildfire around the world. The report which has angered me the most is that of the blame being put on Islamic fundamentalists straight away without any evidence at all. It is ridiculous how whenever a terrorist attack occurs, the finger of suspicion is always pointed at Islamic fundamentalists. Why?

The latest reports as I write is that the planes were hijacked and there are more planes that have been hijacked. It is reported that nine people have died so far and there are 1000's injured. The death toll is expected to rise...My heart goes out to all those families and friends affected by this great tragedy.

However it is wrong for the media to speculate anything right now. They should just give us the facts and not make a very serious situation worse.

It has now been a week since the tragedy and I have had time to gather my thoughts on the whole situation since then. Being a British Muslim myself, I am shocked by the way the world has respond
ed to innocent Muslims around the world. The countless attacks on innocent Muslims makes the people who carry them out no better than the terrorists who fuelled the massacre.

My next statement may be a little controversial but it is my personal opinion which is what Dooyoo is a forum for...

Not for one minute do I condone the attrocious acts of evil that occurred on the 11th of September. But I would like to point out that attacks of this kind occur all over the world on a daily basis and America have been behind many attacks killing innocent people in the past. Yet there is so much hysteria because America has been hit by terrorists...why? Are American lives more valuable than those of innocent Palestinians, Iraqi's, etc..? The answer is that in an ideal world everyone is equal and every human is as precious as the other, but judging by the recent situation that is not the case.

Why do we not have minutes of silences other innocent people around the world killed because of their nationality and residency? The mind boggles...

Many people are being disillusioned by the hype from the media at the moment. Its easy to fall into that category. But I know that there are many other people out there that looked at the situation objectively and in an unbiased way. I am one of them and I hope that my opinion puts that across and that it is useful to you in some way.
