Advantages: n/a

Disadvantages: loss of life , the attacks on innocent people, the use of terror as a way to get a point across

I was sat on a game site when I noticed that people were typing that they were so sorry and couldn't believe what was happening. Me, I didn't have a clue what they were talking about and then someone typed "my God the towers have fallen down". Well this roused my curiousity and I switched to the news on the T.V.
I couldn't believe my eyes, who in their right minds would do such a horrendous thing? My god, how could anyone want to kill so many innocent people? How can anyone plan, yet alone carry out, such a devastating and horrifying act.
As time went on and we was shown time and time again the utter stupidity of these terrorist. Their utter lack of respect for human life, the full extent of the waste of human life was slowly being shown.
Even now, a week after this horrifying act of destruction, we still can not comprehend how this happened, let alone why. How can people say that the killing of thousands of innocent people, whether they are Americans or not, is right and that they believe they have the right to carry out such acts in the name of their GOD.
Surely, in this day and age, we as humans have progressed enough to realise that violence only begets violence. There is no reason good enough that gives any one person or group of people the right to decide who lives or dies.
I am now worried that by retaliating, we are as bad as those who actually carried out this terrible act. An 'eye for an eye' is surely not the message we want to teach our children. I know that the perpetrators of this destruction need to be punished, and so they should, but to go out and bomb places just because they may or have helped those who carried out this dispicable act is surely just as bad.
Yes find the person/s behind the attack and deal them severely, but try to keep any more deaths to a minimum. Try not to tar all people with the same brush. If it is Islamic fanatics, then deal with them and not take it out on the many mil
lions of normal peace loving Muslims.
Surely after all the religious wars, we should have learnt that not all people believe the same things though they may worship the same god. As we look back through history there has been enough religious wars to prove that NO one wins and EVERY one loses. You can not fight religion, you may be able to kill off a generation of believers, but the ones who follow on from them are even more determine to believe things their way.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost a loved one in this tragedy. Yet so as not to cause more people to lose loved ones I urge the governments to try and find a way to solve this problem without any more blood shed. Surely there has been enough spilt already.
