A 221 1st innings lead is exactly the way for Australia to start a test series. But anything Oz can do England can also do these days, wiping out that 300 partnership by being 309-1 at the close on day four, the draw in the bag, hundreds for Cook and Strauss, a ... more

It's been hard to split England and Australia this year, why judging who would win The Ashes 'Down Under' has been so tricky, none the wiser after three exciting tests. I went for 1-1 before it started and so England retaining the Ashes - nobody accept the Aussies were going for another 5-0, the disaster the drunkard Flintoff inflicted on England as captain the last time we were out there. Without Warne, McGrath and Hayden in recent series the Aussies have been vulnerable and were beaten at home by South Africa and again in India and, of course, by England in our home Ashes win in 2009, conditions very much the decisive factor in that one, as they are in ...  Read the complete review

"Bad luck you Aussies!!" I'm sure those words would have left Geoff Boycott's lips at some point over the last 5 days...but how they made England panic last night. Yes, England have gone 1-0 up after winning the second test at Lord's, but somewhere at the back of even the most optimistic of minds, they will be that nagging doubt that the Australians could easily come back and winning two of the next three tests and retain the Ashes. Damn them all! Their line-up is much changed to the team which lost during the 2005 Ashes series, and very different to the team which thrashed us, and that's an understatement, 5 - 0 during the 2006/07 tour. Ponting ...  Read the complete review

By completing their demolition of the West Indies in Brisbane Australia have completed a record 11 test victories in a row thus taking the record from that team. Australia have been at the pinnacle of world cricket for many years now and their dominance of the sport shows no signs of diminishing. In reviewing them now I will look at the team they presently have and hopefully start to examine why they have reached this position. The team is now captained by Steve Waugh one of the two Waugh twins . Steve Waugh is probably a cricketer's cricketer. His captaincy is very strong and he aims to get the team on top and once they are in a strong position Australia show ...  Read the complete review

Arguably the greatest leg-spin bowler in Cricket history. But, another unavoidable fact. A drug cheat. It may seem cruel, bland even but the so often the truth is. Look at Linford Christie he was an exceptional 100m sprinter but surely anyone with half a bit of brains can figure it out. Afterall, how many 35+ do you know who can run 100m under ten seconds. None, exactly. However, with Shane Warne it was different. He was true, genuine class. The first bowl that he bowled against England, he bowled Mike Gatting. It was pure genius as the ball turned and deceived even a great batsmen like Gatting. It was start of a terrific and exciting career for Shane ...  Read the complete review
