Advantages: Keeps your child occupied, helps them to gain strength in their legs
Disadvantages: Can be dangerous if left on their own with one
My baby loves his baby walker!!
A lot of people don't like baby walkers and prefer not to buy them for their children, as they believe they are dangerous. I think they could be dangerous especially is unsupervised. My child loves his baby walker and has so much fun when he is put into it. He got it when he was about 5-6 months and seemed disinterested at first, now you cant stop him!! He goes frontwards, backwards and in every direction you can think off. There has been a few occasions when he has stood up inside of it and nearly tipped the whole thing over, also he just zooms at things and bangs into everything in sight ( i think thats just part of him being a boy though haha).
I got out baby walker from ASDA at only 20 pounds, and its great. It is bright and colourful and has a detatchable part at the front so you can place all of his toys on the front. Since using the baby walker, he has began to get stronger and stronger and can stand on his legs for much longer. He has always liked standing on his feet, and this device has gave us adults a rest from holding him whilst he tries to stand. It has two levels, which is quite disappointing, especially if your child is between the two, lucky my child has been ok with this, but he is far too tall for the lowest setting.
Overall I think baby walkers are an excellent way of teaching your child to stand and give them strength in their body.
Summary: Children can gain leg strength and give adults a rest

- 13/07/08 Actually, yes, the sit in sort are VERY bad for the development. if you want to know why, speak to an orthapedist, or google what they have to say. It was my daughter's orthapedist who put us of using one ever again, once theye xplined the mal development of the elg meuscles and the issues they have to deal with on seeemingly normal developed children YEARS later, caused by baby walkers. |

- 11/07/08 My little ones used one of the sit in style walkers and loved them, i wouldn't use the ones they lean against though because you're more likely to have baby take a tumble and hurt their face with those. |
