Badminton in General Discussion

Newest Review: ... just how hard it is by playing against someone of a similar or slightly better level in a single game. The game consists of 15 or 21 points depending on whether you play new or old rules, personally I find that people that know old rules prefer them but that people learning it is easier to get them started with the new rules and I guess that ultimately the better player is still going to win. I did join a Badminton club and I did do ok but due to injuries in my feet and ankles I had to retire from playing at the grand old age of 23, however this has not stopped me from playing the game. I now play Badminton almost as much as I did w... more

Right so I started playing badminton when I was 15 and it all took off from there. Really I was a bit old when I started to become a great player but being super competitive there was nothing to stop me from becoming the best player that I could. The game is after all, it appeared, a simple case of hitting the shuttle cock over the the net and not letting your opponent make it hit the floor. The Game itself is actually that simple but at the same time actually requires a lot more physical input than you realise and only actually can tell just how hard it is by playing against someone of a similar or slightly better level in a single ...  Read the complete review

A little known fact is that Badminton is the most played racket sport in England. Even more popular than tennis and squash. Only recently after a scoring rule change to try and get it more entertaining for television has it been seen on TV. I have now been playing badminton for over 20 years and have gained so much from this sport. I started playing the game at senior school and from that started going to a local junior club with some friends. Since then I have played for school, collage, local league club and even set up a local junior club to get young kids interested in the sport. It is a great way to get fit and also to meet new people. Over ...  Read the complete review

I began playing badminton when I was at junior school on a Tuesday night every week during term time; my mum signed me up for this extracurricular activity because she had played the sport a lot when she was a bit younger. It took a while to get used to the racquet and the flight of the shuttlecock but after practice I was able to have an enjoyable game. As the years went by my dad took me to try out for the Northamptonshire county squad and I got selected for the under twelve group and then as I got older the under fourteens. I was never one of the best as there were some very talented players and so I didn't represent the county all that often in official matches ...  Read the complete review

Fast and fun (373 words)

Badminton is a sport which is very fun to play and is played at a very fast pace. The good thing about this is that it keeps you running around and keeps you fit! Also if you are clever you can avoid running around too much and make your opponent do all the running! You can buy many different types of rackets and these can be bought from about £10 upwards for an OK racket which means it is reasonably cheap. The rackets are lightweight and are different to rackets in games like tennis as they are designed for fast play. The rules are quite simple and while there are a few complicated ones. The basics are that you have to serve diagonally into ...  Read the complete review

Badminton in General: Rapid & Satisfying (353 words)

Badminton is a very fast-paced sport, which keeps you moving about a lot and keeps you fit! There are many different rackets you can buy and a few good makes include Wilson, Prince and Carlton. Badminton rackets are very much different to tennis ones. They have an extended thin bit, usually made of aluminium rather than a triangle shape leading up to the mesh. This allows quick rapid movements and they tend to be very lightweight too. They have handles at the bottom and a roundish head where the mesh is. The rules of the game are pretty simple but there are a few little ones to learn too as it gets more advanced and if you enter professional tournaments. You ...  Read the complete review
