Newest Review: ... ballet grades and the 2 major R.A.D grades. In 2004 I won the title of 'UK Senior Ballet Scholarship Winner' and I feel that this is one of my greatest achievements yet. I am one of those girls that has danced for years and I was put 'en pointe' at 10 years old and did my first ballet solo en pointe at 12. Hiya I have finally found something on ballet! I have to admit it is probably my most favourite thing to do in the world!! I started dance class when I was just 3 years old and at 21, I am still dancing. At the moment I am training to become a ballet teacher and will sit my exam in the summer. Then I hope to gain teaching certificates in modern and jazz also. The exams are very expensive and you have to pay for your membership etc but I hope it will be worth it, because then I will be able to examine and adjudicate! Ballet is for little girls, for the ones who love pink. For all those who want to be princesses. My niece has just started ballet with the local dance school, she loves it. All we hear is ballet this & ballet that. Today we did this, this is how you do first, and we skip & sing. They do it all, and it doesn't matter if half the class are running round doing their own thing, they are still doing ballet and this is what little girls should do. Although they don't need the outfits, the shoes etc they want it, and it goes with the whole ballet scene, it can be expensive. My niece got her tap shoes from a sale of out grown ones ...  Read the complete review

The Birmingham Royal Ballet?s performance of ?Beauty and the Beast? was a very dark version of the classic fairytale. Choreographed by David Bintley, there were no all-singing, all-dancing Disney plates or teacups. Instead a brooding and sometimes gothic tale was told. Original it may have been, but by the end I found myself desperately wanting some of the props to burst into spontaneous song. Billed as a family production, it was hard to follow and at times deathly dull. The gloom of the show was created by Mark Jonathan?s lighting as throughout the performance it was kept to the bare minimum. While it created atmosphere it did nothing to help the audience ...  Read the complete review
