Banks! Aarrrggghhhh!Newest Review: ... reality, it appears that many banks did not perform stringent due diligence prior to buying the pre-packed debtor books and some banks are now finding that many borrowers are defaulting as they were loaned amounts of which they can not afford to repay. The borrowers were offered interest only payment plans for a few years, which they could afford, but once these holiday period expired and ... more |

In previous times it has been the government who was responsible for letting the country go in to recession in a bid to slow down and control the economic growth, however, for once the government are not to blame and are desperately trying to drag the UK economy out of the dire situation it has managed to get in to. I firmly believe that it is the UK banks that have created this situation and left the government to rectify the situation. It is the banks' reckless methods of increasing market share that is the root cause. ****What have they done**** There are two things the banks have done that contribute most to today's economic climate. ... Well, I just wanted to say about Abbey. I had an appointment today to open an account only to be told it had been cancelled. They hadn't bothered contacting me (despite having my contact details which were correct) they apologised. I waited there for 20 mins and they never bothered to tell me!

This is the only thing that comes to my mind. I don't see any other reason for banks holding back. Any transaction I do shows up in the account ... Read the complete review

I have not had many problems myself regarding my own banking compared to the sad stories of people who have lost businesses and homes. The Banks approach is the opposite to what it should be, especially regards to customer service. My experience is still bad enough though. Over the last year I've got 3 legitimate court claims, 1 of which is happening at the moment. My bank has sent '6' how to claim forms through the FOS (Financial Ombudsman) They now openly give you the form, instead of solving the problem themselves face to face. Banks use to fear the ... Not only do they make obscene amounts of profit but the standard of customer service is appalling. I have been with Abbey National for a few years now and I also have an account with First Direct. The First Direct one is really good however I have always kept an account with Abbey to pay some bills and also because my savings are with them. The other day I wanted to talk to someone about a mortgage and so rang up to get an appointment at my local branch. Now naturally you cannot ring your loca branch direct and I ended up being dealt with by some call centre which could have been anywhere in the world and I only got through after pressing numerous ...
