Barnsley are a side which i dont actually support but a side i show a lot of interest in. They have a number of very interesting characters in their ranks and i back them to make the Premier League this season through the play offs especially if they can make the defence a bit more watertight! Theyve got big 'Arry' Bassett in charge and if anyones gonna take em up its gonna be him. Hes a top manager and deserves to be in the Premiership and i hope hes gonna get there with Barnsley. He very much takes his central squad wherever he goes with him and has brought a number of players upto Barnsley from his former club Nottingham Forest like Steve Chettle, Neil Shipperley, Geoff Thomas and Ian Woan. In terms of defence theyve got the solid players like Steve Chettle whos always been a very underrated player and with exciting new prosepects like Kevin Austin there looking good here. However they have conceded a hell of a lot of goals and this is something that will worry Bassett. In midfield they have the creativity of players like Robbie Van Der Laan whos been good for them and also Geoff Thomas and Ian Woan, who despite their ages are 2 of the best passers outside the Premier League. Up front is where they have no problems with Neil Shipperley refinding his goalscoring touch and Steve Jones whos made a promising start this season. I back Barnsley for the play offs and i reckon their gonna go one step better than their play off final of last season and make it.

Summary:
