Advantages: Energizing, Charging and Pick me up, Nice bottles, Nice taste

Disadvantages: Some may not like the taste of the original but then again you have the orange and lemon flavours

In my quest to reduce weight I have started going to the gym since this Thursday and I was aware of the difficulties that would be experienced in the first few days from past experiences.

One of my friends suggested that I try drinking Lucozade after every gym session as this would help me considerably.

The first week is usually the most difficult when you suddenly put your body through something that it is totally not used too. This sudden expelling of energy needs to be replaced in order to help your body acclimatize to the same treatment everyday for the duration of your excessive exercising.

The first couple of days is always the most difficult and some of the symptoms that you might experience would be extreme muscle pains, especially in the stomach area (if you have been doing pull ups like me) and general fatigue. This will gradually subside over the next one week but it is still recommended that you have something that will help the body recoup some of this lost energy. This will also help you sustain your exercising sessions for a longer period of time and will help you immensely in the long run.

There are several varieties of Lucozade to choose from. However even though I needed some energizing I decided against going for the "Sport" range and rather purchased myself the Lucozade Original Energy drink and in the original flavour.

Lucozade is basically a sparkling glucose drink containing many important and related vitamins.

The one serving bottles are available in a size of 10.1 fl. oz (300ml). This serving contains 219 calories. Many may find this figure to be high, especially in my case as I am actually trying to reduce weight. However if you are exercising and going to the gym, like me, then substantially more calories are burnt and you can easily afford to take in 219 calories, especially if the product is good and will help your cause in the long run.

The packaging is basically
available in two sizes. One is the small bottles, which are technically supposed to provide you with one ideal serving and then you have the larger 1-liter bottles.

The small bottle packaging seems to change quite frequently with the inclusion of special offers like 15% more etc. At present the small bottles are available in 380ml. bottles at most leading supermarkets and shops.

A regular serving of Lucozade Original Energy will provide you with 18% of your recommended daily allowance (RDA) of Carbohydrates (sugar included). As mentioned earlier vitamins also form an important part of the ingredients and these include Riboflavin 13% of RDA, Niacin 13% of RDA, Vitamin B6 13% of RDA, Vitamin B12 3% of RDA and Pantothenic Acid. All these vitamins and sugar provide the necessary energizing and pick-you up that you might need.

The energy providing levels found in Lucozade are approximately double that found in ordinary soft drinks. Unfortunately Lucozade does not taste as good as your usual soft drinks but the makers have gone to great extents in providing a product with a more adaptable and likeable taste. This they have done by making Orange and Lemon flavours. Personally I find the original version quite nice. I am not put of by the taste at all and rather find it quite refreshing. Sure it might taste a bit medicinal but as with most products you gradually develop a taste for it. That coupled with the knowledge that you know the product is good for you, makes it much easier to get used to and to enjoy.

Looking at the product more closely it is also of particular benefit to diabetics and could be used in cases of emergencies. It is also highly beneficial if you are recovering from an illness, which is generally associated with feeling weak and generally very low. Lucozade will help immensely in improving your recovery time.

The packaging is very attractive with the word "Lucozade" running vertically down two third
s of the bottle. The background of the label is predominantly red in colour and covers the transparent bottle almost two thirds of the way. The bottom third is transparent and this allows you to see the orange amber colour of the contents.

You might be forgiven for thinking that Lucozade would be quite expensive but actually its quite reasonably priced and affordable. I found that Tesco sell them the cheapest with the 380ml. bottles being sold at just £1.99 for a pack of six bottles. This equates to just 33p a bottle so it is quite reasonable.

The giant pharmaceutical firm Smith Kline Beecham manufactures Lucozade so the integrity and quality of the product is very much ascertained.

Overall I have found Lucozade a product that I am beginning to enjoy even though I have just been using it for 3 days now. I might endeavor to try the other flavours once my twelve bottles run out.

So if you need a bit of energizing or charging why not have a closer look at Lucozade as it will provide you with an affordable and tasty option.

At the price its presently being sold at 1.99 for 6 bottles it is pretty cheap. I was made to understand that the usual price for 6 bottles was four quid - Vinod

It tastes nice yes....but I wouldn't say it was all that affordable, being quite expensive in some of the shops. Saying that, I suppose it's an OK price as far as energy drinks go.
