Advantages: Couldn't happen to more deserving company

Disadvantages: We have to put up with them over and over again

Schadenfreude.

An interesting word don't you think? One that's entered the English language courtesy of a TV advert. Can't remember which one but it's ironic that it can now be applied to a TV advert or, at least, to the perpetrators of a TV advert!

"Taking delight in the discomfort of others". A German word I believe. That's fairly predictable don't you think?

You will know if you have read any of my scribbles on the subject of the golden liquor, of my love/hate relationship with Anheuser-Busch, the purveyors of the execrable Budweiser; no, not the genuine Czech (Budvar) variety, which is pure nectar, but the truly dreadful US "excuse for a beer".

Hate? ...that's equally for the beer as for the manufacturers (I really can't bring myself to call them brewers). Anheuser-Busch, your beer is an insult to the palate and you, with your bullyboy tactics and use (abuse) of financial muscle to attempt to defend the indefensible, are a disgrace.

Love? ...but they do make GREAT adverts. Or they did. Finally, however, their luck has run out.

Have you seen the "Real Men of Genius" adverts they have been running lately? There seem to be two in the series. That's two too many.

"Mr Nudist Colony Activity Co-ordinator" and the latest, "Mr Really Bad Toupee Wearer".

I think they are supposed to be funny. Instead they are just downright embarrassing. And, unfortunately we have to suffer them not just on TV but on commercial radio as well.

It's great to see such a deserving company get it so badly wrong (at last)! If these adverts don't put people off Budweiser then nothing will.

Still, I suppose there will always be those who don't care what they pour down their throats so long as it's wet, cold and fizzy, which is about as much as you can say for Bud.

I'm in two
minds. Half of me hopes we won't have to put up with this rubbish much longer, the other half hopes that they will not realise the dreadful mistake they have made and that as a result their sales plummet.

No, sorry, they've got to go. They are without a shadow of a doubt the worst TV adverts ever, and I include in that the "Shake and Vac" advert that had a cringe value of 9.6 on the Richter Scale.

I've seen three different ones and I think they're great fun, after all isn't that what an advert is supposed to be? Sue

Good op...i think they are great though, try singing along without giggling like a child...maybe i've just had to many buds...I am a nudist colony activity coordinator so maybe i'm biased..but i am also a real man of genius.

I can't believe they threw away a genuinely good campaign (Whassup) for this twaddle. And I used work for the agency who *made* the ads, so its even more cringeworthy for me.
