Advantages: Cleaner environment

Disadvantages: annoying sometimes

I work for Belfast city council. I worked in the recycling yards. So I know that recycling is a pain in the butt. Although it is good to do and it is very positive for the environment. Well it helps the environment by waste being recycled and reused rather that keep on using the source for example trees are cut down to make paper. If everyone recyles the less trees cut down. The main thing there is that trees give off carbon oxygen which we need to live.

Also it is less rubbish in our bins that then has to be either burned or tipped off somewhere. It is annoying having to put different things in different bins and you say to yourself what difference does it make?

Well it does make a big difference. Although not everybody has that attitude. I recycle and know exactally I am helping the environment to be better for my kids and my kids kids. So it is a good thing and if you are not doing it you should start. Also it keeps the house cleaner and less rubbish around the house which could attract pests like rats and mice. So recycling is good. I would highly recommend it here in Belfast there are lots of recyling centres and you can use them and even get advise.

Summary: it is worth while recyling

i recycle almost everything. And our council here has diffrent bins- one for food waste, one for plastics and cans and one general. I try and teach my kid too about this- he always throws bottles and papers into the green cover.

I have recently got more into recycling - I just think that the councils don't do as much as they should. Some countries actually don't allow packaging in the supermarkets so people don't have loads and loads of packaging to throw away (plus they're charged by the weight of their rubbish). I forget which country! Maybe we should start doing this. The manufacturers save a fortune too in reducing their packaging costs.
