Recycling in most boroughs is compulsory. The government has told us that we must be recycling a minimum of 40 percent of our waste by 2011. If a borough does not reach its targets on recycling there will be heavy fines imposed on the borough which will reflect on the council tax. Fines of up to £1000 will be imposed on residents who persistently refuse to recycle.

Once you begin recycling you will become unable to put those things into your rubbish, it will become a natural habit to put your glass bottles, tins and boxes into your recycling box every time you go out the house. Extra recycling boxes can be provided on request.

Some areas where there are many flats there are communal recycling facilities such as bottle banks. These recycling facilities can also be found at your local supermarket.

Your wheelie bins should now be a lot emptier. Your bin should be disinfected on a regular basis to keep away bad smells and flies especially in the summer time. Try using zoflora, it comes in lovely fragrances such as spring time, lily of the valley and my favourite lavender!

Summary: Get recycling and reach those targets!
