Biology

Newest Review: ... and at degree, well, I haven't got that far! As far as difficulty is concerned, Biology lacks much of the complex mathematics that play a large part in Physics and Chemistry, but there are some challenging concepts, and when you begin looking at photosynthesis in detail, you will crave the relatively nice subject you studies at GCSE level. There is a lot of information to learn for Biology, many things are also quite illogical, because afterall, living things are very unpredictable. I would definately recommend Biology, it really is worthwhile for the understanding of how your body works and how you can keep it healthy throughout your lif... more

Biology is a fascinating subject, it is the subject that studies Life. I would challenge you to come up with a subject more interesting than life, it is afterall the very basis of human existence. Whilst Biology does get tough when you persue it to more advanced levels, it really isn't that bad and I would definately recommend it as a subject. Biology itself is quite diverse, and whilst many people enjoy looking at plants, it seems the majority of students are primarily focussed on human biology. At GCSE level, you will learn the differences between a plant and animal cell, at A level, you will learn the complex microscopic make up of the cell (lots more bits ...  Read the complete review

I took the subject of Biology for A-levels. Biology can be described as the study of living things and since I was interested in the latest news on science and I saw gene technology being important in the future I took it. Many of my friends had found this subject difficult and by the end of year 12 half of the class had dropped out with the majority being those who weren't good at GCSE science in the first place (Got below grade B at double award science). However, I found it to be an interesting subject as I could spend hours reading the textbooks. With revising and studying for biology an important advice I would give out is to use ...  Read the complete review

Why did I pick this? I don't know. Of all the great subjects out there, I had the stupidity to pick this. Perhaps I was drunk. Perhaps I was high. But now, if I could turn the clock back to August and change it, I would do it in a flash. I picked this for AS, along with Law, English and ICT. And of the courses I do - it's the worst one. HOW IS THE COURSE DIVIDED? In to 3 modules: Human Health and Disease, the Foundation and Transport. Each is then split in to numerous sub-topics. FOUNDATION The Foundation module seems to me to be THE most difficult part of the course. I've just 'completed' it (if you can call numerous ...  Read the complete review

Biology is described as the study of living organisms i.e. plants and animals in a particular area. A level biology looks in details at both plants and animals and they in which they interact! I did biology by the OCR board and i have found the syllabus that they supplied easy to follow, useful and interesting. The OCR board requires you to complete five thoery modules and a further practical module. Two of the thoery modules: - Central concepts in biology and Foundation Biology are compulsory! They are a choice of about eight more from which you have to choose three more. FOUNDATION BIOLOGY This module contains all ...  Read the complete review

Biology was one of three A levels that I took last year - four if you count General Studies but at the time Biology was by far the most intersting. Biology is with out doubt the easiest science at A level and I felt that the aim of it was slightly different from the other science courses. Instead of making you wonderful sciencetists it's aim was to give you an understanding of the world around you and why and how everything is like it is. It is a really interesting subject to study. Chemistry teaches you new skills and tries to prepare you for degree level science of some sort where as I felt that biology was more fun and tried hard to make itself ...  Read the complete review
