Advantages: makes me happy.

Disadvantages: none.

They really do ,dont laugh:)
Birds are beautiful creatures,I live in a semi country area just outside the town and on the edge of a wood ,so i dont need a *Hide *to watch them because my kitchen window looks out onto the roof of my shed surrounded by very high fir trees .
Of course I leave them food on this roof twice a day ,they are are very fond of digestive biscuits and wholemeal bread ,and a little treat of sunflower seeds,the shed is high enough to deter my cats .
I have had several brown blackbirds this morning and the robin and blackbird comes to feed regularly .Then there is the jay .and many nuthatches ,and pigeons ,what a spectacle to watch everytime I wash up ,and sit in my bedroom.
This array is also interspersed by squirrels gey ones ,they all look up at me and say *we need more *,so they have to be taken into account when I go shopping.They prefer biscuits made by Iceland:)
I also benefit by their birdsong when the sun shines ,it has today they sing beautifully.
Also they sing around teatime if I put some music on my CD player,to my very emotive *Hooked on Themes*.

I can understand why people make a hobby out of birdwatching,i am trying to find a link for the program Bill Oddie without sucess has anyone seen one ,He would like my garden:)

I have seen some dear little baby birds recently they are beige at the side of their bodies with black and white stripes they could be Jays.I will research this to find out their identity .

The Owl called the other night we have several they have almost a relay system of call .Making their twittwoos from tree to tree down through the wood starting in the 90foot pine tree at the top of my garden.
I thought that must be why they call them wise old owl ,because they only call prior to a change in the weather lo and behold the next day was sunny.

We also had a report in the Argus of a Bittern being seen in sussex unfortunatly it had been killed by a car.App
arently a rare bird to these parts East Sussex.

An amusing further article said that some birds like the minor bird are making such realistic imppressions of moble phones that people are looking for the phone users near their gardens.

My mother used to work for a lady that had a parrot that used to bark like her Alsatian dog,what clever and beautiful creatures they are;
Watch this space for any more reports.

A great topic to write about, I would have rated you higher if you had expanded your review somewhat.
