Advantages: they can replace him and improve with a good manager
Disadvantages: he's not good enough to manage in the prem
After my review earlier in the week on Sunderland, Roy Keane resigned as manager. I wonder if after a few days Paul Ince will no longer be in his post as Blackburn Rovers manager? Ince is officially the bookies favourite for the next premiership manager to lose their job. To be honest I don't think there is much Blackburn could have done during the defeat to Liverpool yesterday to change the score line, they were always going to lose that game, but will feel a little hard done by because it was goalless at half-time.
I'm actually quite surprised that Ince was appointed manager of Blackburn in the first place. Previously with Macclesfield Town and Milton Keynes Dons, Ince had no experience whatsoever of premier league football management. The highest level he had ever managed at was Football League 1, two leagues below the premiership where the standard of player, quality of football, tactics required for victory and pressures of management are far different from the top flight. In my opinion he was destined to fail from day one. I'm speaking as if he has left already, but it can only be a matter of time before he is asked to clear his desk because the board will not put up with the team sinking deeper into a relegation dogfight. Blackburn Rovers are a proud football club with a loyal fan base and they will be devastated if they are relegated to the championship. There is no reason why the should be relegated at all, Ince took over the same set of players that Hughes left and he nearly always managed to get the team to finish either in the top half of the table of there abouts. The only reason they're where they are in the table is down to Ince, nobody else. He simply doesn't possess the tactical know-how required to be a top flight manager and is really struggling. Like Keane if he continues at Blackburn I can only see the situation worsening and the team will have fewer games to get out of the predicament they're in.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few days, but I'm sure a decision will be made soon.
Thanks for reading, feel free to comment.
Summary: he was the wrong appointment in my opinion

- 10/12/08 The worst thing that happened to Rovers was losing Brad Friedel and his replacement being the pathetic Paul Robinson say no more :( |

- 07/12/08 yea definetily not good enough yet, but lots of potential. Only the odd world class manager does great in the premireship in their first few years becoming a manager. Give Ince time and hopefully he can get better |
