Days at the seaside always used to portray the same image. The old videos you see of people running out of beach huts wearing massive swimming costumes (usually stripy style), accompanied by old plinkity-plonk music. Ice creams, amusement arcades, walks along the promenade and deck chairs for a pound each (of course, with a pound deposit). There were also sandcastles with little flags in them, made traditionally with a bucket and spade and seashells: the best ones even had a moat and a drawbridge around them, and only cool ‘big’ people could make them. There were picnics with warm, sticky drinks, cheese sandwiches, called ‘sandwiches’, obviously ...

According to such unimportant events as century-old tradition, British Summer Time is supposedly in full swing. Images of ice creams, crashing waves and ooh, scantily-clad females spring to mind. But despite this, it just doesn't feel like the season of goodwill is here. Hmm. Dammit, there's already another season which people call that isn't there? Well anyway, the best season of the year, beating off strong competition from Spring and thrashing the lifeless charade known as Autumn into submission, is indeed Summer. Oh and before you I go on, I don't know if Summer has a capital letter. I'm assuming it does, but it seems there are some disagreements ...

This is one of the best sports around. True it does not quite have the same “hype” as Surfing, but neither the less its still bloody good fun. The first thing you should do is borrowing a Body board from a friend and go and hit those waves. It’s best to do it like this as it can be expensive to buy all the gear, and if you find it’s not for you then it’s a waste of money. If you find you like it, just wait until you have a bit of practice, then the Fun happens!! Tricks and Stunts only come with practice, like the famous Drop-Knee. That is one of the basic moves to learn, and it makes you look like your King of Waves… ...
