Advantages: no fly zones must be enforced
Disadvantages: kills many innocent civilians
Since the early 90's when Sadaam Hussein put Iraq on the map for all the wrong reasons there has been a major Gulf War which many soldiers from the west have died in and been wounded in, not to mention all the innocent Kuwait's who have been caught right in the crossfire between the West and Iraq. I believe the main person to blame for the continuing saga of the middle east is George Bush Snr. He should have sent a hit squad in and taken out Sadaam for good. Instead he sat on the fence and imposed sanctions. To this day Sadaam, i believe, is still a threat to the people of the middle east and sanctions must be imposed on him and his country to be able to deal with this threat. Don't try to tell me he's not a threat any more, Where did those weopons got to that you wouldn't let us see Sadaam? Stashed away? I thought as much! The no-fly zone in Iraq is there for a very good reason, to separate Iraq from Kuwait and to protect Kuwait and the western troops stationed there from the threat Sadaam imposes. This no fly zone must be enforced at all costs and any defiance to this is a clear sign to the west that Sadaam Hussein wants trouble. He is aware of the no fly zone and violates it purposefully to provoke an attack from the west on his people from which he can claim that the west is being aggressive towards them. I am believe it or not opposed to killing innocent people but now the chance has passed of killing Sadaam we must get him out of government. Even his own son has turned against him! We must make the people of Iraq realise that he is the problem and not us. For goodness sake he's used them as a human shield in the past! Violating the no fly zone is a threat and must be dealt with and unfortunately the easiest way to deal with this and have the least loss of human life is by flying missiles into Iraq and bombing the country. The bombs of course are not aimed at the people but there just isn't 100% accurac
y and unfortunately civilians will be killed. This is a consequence of waging war and violating a no fly zone that Iraq and the world will just have to put up with. Remind me Sadaam, "Who started the war?" I believe the last attack that George Bush Jnr made was completely justified and must be done to safeguard respect for the west and more importantly to safeguard the people of the middle east. By the way i'm a staunch Gore man myself!

- 28/12/01 Its unfashionable to support our own society, troops, or allies these days but thank goodness there are still people prepared to do it.
Bombing Iraq is not pointless...we bomb military targets which lock missiles on to our planes. Not children unless they happen to be living in anti aircraft sites.
Bombing Iraq is expensive but not as expensive as Saddam invading another of his neighbours or developing a nuke.
Bombing Iraq isn't useless as its stopped Iraqi expansion for over ten years (although not the genocide inside Iraq.
Its not against international law (if it is can you tell me which one please?)
And finally all war is morally wrong but a bit of a fact of human life.
And no I wouldnt find it acceptable if the US government (I think that you will find that Bush is just one of them) established a no fly zone over the UK, but I wouldn't have invaded a neighouring country and tried to hold the world to ransome either.
We get a lot of propoganda in the west, but it comes from both sides, and all this stuff about bombing Iraqi children is just pure fantasy.
Oil is about more than a few pence on the price of a gallon. Its about no food production or distribution, no clothing manufacture, no heating lighting or power, its about no transport.
If anyone (not only Hussein) got control of enough of the worlds supply they could shut western society down (and I mean down) within months. They wouldnt have to fire a shot.
Oh yes and the Palestinians....Kuwait was the most hospitable country in the region to the Palstinians until the Iraqui invasion and Sadaam even managed to screw that one up. |

- 17/07/01 there's nothing wrong with bombing iraq other than it is pointless, expensive, usless, against international law and morally wrong.
would you find it accpetable if geroge bush established a no fly zone over your country, then bombed you if you tried to shoot down his planes |
