Mark BosnichNewest Review: ... elevating Man Utd to 18 points ahead of their closest rivals, Arsenal, giving them a total of 91 points! United were also the only team not to lose at home in that season. Incredible, where did it all go wrong? He's now signed for Chelsea, and wears the number 31 shirt - but will we ever see him play in it? Would he even make the team and displace the superb Ed De Goey? Must have been ... more |

What was wrong with Mark Bosnich in the eyes of Manchester United supreme Alex Ferguson? At Aston Villa Mark Bosnich was an accomplished goalkeeper who managed to break away into the Manchester United team replacing the greatest keeper of all time (in my view) Peter Schmeical! Leaving to Old Trafford on a free, thanks to the Bosman ruling, Bosnich was part of the Premier League winning Red Devils side of 1999/2000 and helped them achieve an incredible goal difference of +52, and elevating Man Utd to 18 points ahead of their closest rivals, Arsenal, giving them a total of 91 points! United were also the only team not to lose at home in that season. Incredible, ... Read the complete review

Mark Bosnich's career has simply hone from bad to worse. At first, he was doing just fine for himself, holding the number one jersey at Aston Villa, going steady, before he decided to make a move to Man U. At Old Trafford, he managed to hold down a first team place for a while before some terrible mistakes forced him to be replaced by Taibi and then Van der Gouw. Once Fabien Barthez arrived, he never really stood a chance of ressurecting any firs team hopes and was released on a free transfer, with manager Alex Furgson claiming that he didn't care where he went! So Mark packed up his bags and seriously wounded pride and reputation and travelled south to Chelsea. ... Read the complete review

Ever since he signed for Man Utd two summers ago I have felt that he is just not the right man to be between the sticks at Old Trafford. He treated united poorly the first time he signed for them, in the early 90's. after giving them his word he would return once he had sorted out some passport problems, he signed for Aston Villa. Although he very rarely does it, I'm afraid that Fergie made a mistake in signing Bosnich a second time. I just get the impression that Bosnich does not have a lot of self-discipline, and he often appears to be quite overweight and sometimes his concentration can let him down, which brings me on to my next point. In the modern ... Read the complete review

Mark Bosnich had a decent spell at United several years ago, he was touted as a replacement for The Great Dane, but was sadly kicked out for work ermit reasons. When super Pete left, it was natural that Mark's name be touted among the likes of Barthez and Van Der Sar. He was available as a free agent and I think that is the reason he came. Bosnich was never Fergie's choice as keeper, he wanted Perruzzi or Van Der Sar, having been turned down (initially) by Barthez. But the board grew impatient of the chasing, and Van Der Sar preferred Turin, and Bisnich was unveiled. He was clearly a little on the heavy side, but as he made his debut at ... Thank God! - we've lost Mark Bosnich. He didn't seem to understand that he wasn't wanted - not now and not ever by Man United. To be fair he wasn't that bad a keeper...on the first shot, but then it took him an eternity to get up and have another go. That is below standard when you're playing for one of the best teams in the world. We may have got him on a free transfer, but we've been losing the money by paying out his 25 or £35,000 a week wage. It's not on - paying a guy that much for nothing - no effort and little talent. I can understand why he didn't want to go - do a Stevey Mac and sit around all day for a hell of a lot of dosh ...
