Advantages: Joga Bonito-beautiful football,entertaining to watch, skill/flair

Disadvantages: sometimes too much attack-leaves them exposed defensively

When you hear the words Brazil and football most people will think of fun, flair, skill and great goals. Their play is usually called 'joga bonito' or beautiful football. Brazil is the most successful national football team in the history of the World Cup, with five wins (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002). They are also the only team to have played in every World Cup so far. They top their qualifying group for the World cup in South Africa in 2010 and have just won their third confederations cup title after coming from 2 goals behind to beat the USA 3-2.

The Brazil team has over the years had a number of fantastic players to wear the green and yellow jersey. These include players such as Pele, Jairzinho, Junior, Socrates, Romario, Bebeto, Cafu, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo and more recently players such as Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and Luis Fabiano. The team combines flair and skill and great attack.

They are usually not concerned overly by defensive responsibility and attack from the back. The full backs are usually pushed forward as wingers when they attack as you might have seen if you watched any of the confederations cup games with Maicon on the right wing especially spending a lot of his time in the opposition half even though he is a right back. They also have players who like to dribble with the ball and take players on. These players currently include the likes of Robinho and Kaka as well as Ronaldinho (who was not in the confederations cup squad). They also have a great potential star of the future that is already quite a star now in Alexandro Pato.

I have been lucky enough to actually attend a Brazil game when they played at the Emirates Stadium in London. They were playing an international friendly against Sweden. Kaka and Ronaldinho were unavailable for the game but a lot of the top players were there including Julio Cesar, Daniel Alves, Robinho , Diego, Lucio, Alex and Pato amongst others. The game itself wasn't the most entertaining but was lit up by a great goal from substitute Alexandro Pato who was just 18 at the time and is not even 20 now.

The current team is looking very good at the moment but do look a bit vulnerable defensively and may find it difficult against an organised team with good tactics which could counter their attacking threat. They will be one of the favourites though to lift the World Cup trophy next year alongside Spain. I actually am a fan of the England team but I also like to watch Brazil and they are probably my second national team to support if England can't win. They play football the way it should be played in an attractive entertaining way and to win.

Summary: most successful national football team
