Disadvantages: can only use BT

I enquired about getting BT's free 1571 service but was not allowed to as I also subscribe to another telephone provider.
Although I pay my full quarterly fees(which add up to enough without calls) I am not elegible to use 1571.
BT's service is therefore, in my opinion,
A way of being blackmailed into not having a choice in telephone service providers.
As long as I pay my bills to BT I feel I should be able to use this service and still have freedom to use what I feel is a cheaper call service.
