Flawed, but okay.

BT answer 1571 is a ?free? answering machine that takes calls when your phone line is engaged etc. If you have been thinking about getting a answering machine, you can get this one for free (as long as you?re a BT customer), which is good.

So it?s a basic answering machine. Now I?ll tell you about some of the flaws of it:0

It doesn?t tell you who?s ringing.

Yes. A huge mistake is that it doesn?t tell you who is ringing. So you have to figure out from the voice, as there is no number that is stored with it. Boo-Hoo.

It only records messages if the caller wants to

Another huge flaw is that if they put the phone down before the ?beep? goes, you?ll never know they did. So you need a combination of 1471 and 1571 to stay in touch with your calls.

You have the crappy BT operator doing the voice

Aaaah! I?m gonna crack up if she says one more word. You?ve probably heard her saying ?The Number you have dialled is not recognized, please try again?. She always say that when you desperately need someone. If you want the liberty to record your own voice message, you?ll have to stump up £10 a quarter (I think). Which is pants.

So there you have it. You mightas well get it, as it?s free, but if you already have a answering machine you can forget it. Well unless you?re on the internet all the time?

The thing that gets me down with it is that it is set to answer on 7 rings which sometimes is not long enough..depending on what you are doing when the phone rings..I myself am normally just sitting down in the bath!!
