Now I have read mixed reviews of the BT answering service but to be quite honest it is a real god send for me. For those that don't know in simple terms it is a free answerphone service from BT and all you have to do is dial 1571 and enter your own password to access the last ten messages left. I did not have an answerphone right ... Read the complete review

I subscribed to the 1571 package when the service was not free and the service in this free incarnation is a lot worse. For a start you cannot change the number of rings that it takes for the answerphone to pick up the call which you could before. The next downgrade is the fact that you cannot turn any personal greeting on. The caller is simply ... Read the complete review

I have been using the service for three months now,I am still connected to it my main points FOR the service are : I do not miss any calls whilst on the internet, or out, or engaged on another telephone call, whereas your 'normal' ansaphone only picks up calls when your phone is free. normally it rings for 7/8 rings ... Unreliable and no proper warning for the caller - Advantages: free for owner, easier than an answerphone, you don't have to worry about missing calls - Disadvantages: expensive for caller, unreliable, answer phones scare me (I don't know why)

We have only just had BT 1571 put on our home phone. We have so far only had one problem with it and that is that it for some reason doesn't come on when we are are engaged but only when we are on the interrnet. However we haven't had any other problems with it apart from that. I noticed though that someone said that it ... Read the complete review

BT - bloody awful in terms of reputation, customer service, responsiveness and attention to detail. However, in terms of product offering, technology and ideas, I'm so bloody annoyed to say, BT actually have quite a lot going for them in terms of their goal of being a global, technological communications solution provider. If only ... Read the complete review

Well actually it's a free service from BT, but none the less it is still good. So what is it? BT 1571 is a message machine. When you're on the phone, connected to the internet or out it cuts and and lets the caller leave a message so you can hear it afterwards. It's a bit like an answe machine but you can use it when ... So please leave a message after the tone.... BEEEP! followed by a phone hanging up! Why is it that people seem to listen to the answerphone message and THEN decide to hang up? I dont think anyone has the answer to that. But BT have taken the sting out of paying £20 for an answerphone from a shop like Argos by providing an ... Read the complete review

It's totally free? Not at all. The user gets the service for free, but BT sting the tails of the callers by charging them for connecting to the nice lady who tells you the person you are trying to call isn't going to answer the phone and would you like to leave a message? What does the service offer? 1571 is a ... Read the complete review

great - Advantages: free, easy to set up, and easier then getting a answer phone - Disadvantages: only a small ammount of rings then the answer phone picks up any calls

This new service is excellent. Why bother to buy an answerphone when BT sort out the whole business on your behalf? Simple to set up, access, maintain (actually there is nothing to actually maintain!)and completely free. If you aren't with BT, join them or go back to them (and no, I do not work for the company!) I have been using 1571 for months now and found it great. We are always online so even having a normal answerphone means that people cant get through to us. I used the service a few years back too, but I am sure at the time you needed to pay for it, hence the switching over to a bought answerphone! The service is free for the ... Read the complete review

*******UPDATE********** I see this morning that BT are to donate £1.00 to children in need for each person that signs up to BT answer between 3rd and 30th Novemeber. Such a cynical way to donate to charity..they must be really making a packet from this service as they seem desperate to sign more people up!! ... Read the complete review

I haven't got BT answer 1571. But that is for the simple reason that I have used it (and found it irritating)as my parents have it. It sounds like a great idea; get messages without the need for an answerphone, and enable people to leave messages even when your phone is engaged, for free...well, not quite. I'm not sure ... It seems strange to me that BT would even CONSIDER launching this service at a time when they are very much in debt. Call Minder cost £6.99 a month. After a user set amount of rings, the Call Minder would kick in and take your message. You could use a personal message or a BT "default" one. 1571 is FREE. It comes in ... Read the complete review

We have had 1571 for over a year now and it is not the same as having a seperate answering phone for example: If I was on the phone and someone else was trying to get through to me, 1571 would be activated and the caller would leave a message. I hang up the phone and my phone would ring again telling me that I have 1 new message and to ... Read the complete review

I have my own answerphone. It comes on after 6 rings. If it answers a call for me the caller pays for the call, regardless of if they want to speak to my answerphone or not. This is just the same with BTs 1571. I have 1571, I'm on the net quite a lot, so I use it to pic up messages when the phone is engaged. I think it's a ... Read the complete review

There are in this life those really big questions that exercise the truly great minds of philosophers, and scientists. These are those questions that consider the human condition, that wonder at the nature of the universe that make a vague stab in the dark at why we are here, how long we have been here and how long we may be lucky enough to remain ... Answering machines are really useful, and we have used one for years, but ours finally went wrong a couple of months ago. So, when I logged on to BT.com and saw their new service, BT Answer, advertised as a free service, I decided to give it a try. So far I am pleased with it, I know if I am on the Internet (which is often), or if I am ... Read the complete review

I think that the BT 1571 service is brilliant. I spend so much time on DooYoo that my phone is permanently engaged. This means that I miss loads of calls and everybody I know complains that they can never get hold of me. I don’t mind missing calls from my hubby or the kids asking, “what time is tea going to ...
