Unreliable and no proper warning for the caller - Advantages: free for owner, easier than an answerphone, you don't have to worry about missing calls - Disadvantages: expensive for caller, unreliable, answer phones scare me (I don't know why)

great - Advantages: free, easy to set up, and easier then getting a answer phone - Disadvantages: only a small ammount of rings then the answer phone picks up any calls

This new service is excellent. Why bother to buy an answerphone when BT sort out the whole business on your behalf? It seems strange to me that BT would even CONSIDER launching this service at a time when they are very much in debt. Call Minder cost £6.99 a month. I have my own answerphone. It comes on after 6 rings. If it answers a call for me the caller pays for the call, regardless of if they want to speak to my answerphone or not.
