Bullying at Work

Description: Does the bad man in the next cubicle steal your lunch money?

This had the affect of making my colleague feel that she was being disbelieved for some reason. I recommended that she kept copies of all emails, and when she showed me them, I had to agree that they way they were worded was ... more

Bullying at Work It can be easy to assume that bullying is only something that happens in school. All too often though, this isn't the case and many, many people, through no fault of their own, find themselves subjected to bullying in their place of work. This can often be more subtle than playground bullying, and less obvious to others, leaving the victim feeling helpless to do anything, and resigned to having to accept it. This can have a horrific impact upon their lives and is often something that changes people forever. A colleague has recently requested my support regarding being bullied by her senior manager. My colleague had held her ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review From Playground To Workplace: Never Accept Being Bullied. (1764 words)

I leaned my forehead against the chipped mirror above the sink, partly to cool my humiliation and partly to try and stem the waves of nausea I was feeling. I was locked in a toilet cubical and too afraid to leave. After many weeks, today was the last straw. I'd finally cracked and ended up fleeing from my desk in panic. I was now unable to face the hostility that awaited me in the corridor beyond the safety of my WC haven. I could here giggling and joviality over the pounding of my heart, but, I knew I was excluded. I'd been singled out and was alone. I was being bullied- I knew that. The people who were bullying me knew that, and the people with the ...  Read the complete review

Victims of workplace bullying often think they are alone in how they are feeling and in, what they believe is their inadequacy to face their dilemma. You are not alone, but as few are willing to admit that another human being is making us feel ill every day of our working life, it remains a hidden issue. Bullying in the workplace is a nightmare, you dread going to work and live for the days that the perpetrator of the constant verbal attacks is out on leave or away at a meeting. It is rare that one discusses being the victim of a bully, bullies take so much of your confidence away that one of the last things you want to do is admit that you do not have the ...  Read the complete review

My main reason for adding my review to the other, powerful, stories told here is that no-one has yet mentioned the website BullyOnline. The site was started by Tim Field, who has single-handedly raised the profile of workplace bullying, and provides a wealth of advice for victims and employers. For advice about workplace bullying, start here: www. bullyonline.org/workbully/ The site says: "Half the population are bullied ... most only realise it when they read this." Incomprehensible as that may be to the lucky half that have not been bullied, those of us who have will know its truth. When things start to go ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bullying at Work: Just Say No! (378 words)
by - written on 27/12/08 (Very useful, 30 readings)

Bullying at work is an absolute no-no, however, we all know it happens, and is usually perpertrated by those who never grew out of it after school or have an inferiority complex. Bullying is for those who cannot live a life for themselves, who need others to feel bad to make themselves feel better. Low self esteem and a lack of confidence is behind it, otherwise why would they need to bully. It is simply abuse in a form which we sit back and accept, we are too afraid to stand up and say no, no to abuse. I never thought I would be one to be bullied and I stood up when I thought it counted, guess what I then got reprimanded by the manager, one up to ...  Read the complete review
