Before i start i would like to dedicate this to my cousin chris who killed himself because of bullying. My son is 7 and all through his school life he has been bullied My son is very quite at school and would not harm a fly but he is a target for the bullies he has been hit had a brick chucked at him been tripped up and had his hair cut i went to the school time after time and reported it but nothing was ever done nobody was taking me seriously .

One day i had enough i went to the school and told the school if it carried on i would remove my son from the school and report them as they were supposed to have an anti bullying policy straight away the school took action and pulled the other childs parents in to school to deal with it but it should not have gone that far my cousin was bullied and he took the only way out he knew by killing himself so in the end the bullys won .

We as parents need to make sure we can see the signs and try and stop the bullying before its goes beyond our control if your child is a bully put yourself in a bullied persons place could you live with a childs death knowing you did nothing to stop it a lot of parents choose to ignore what is going on and i know for one if the bullys had been dealt with my cousin would still be here he was only 15 with his whole life ahead of him what a waste of a life .

I was bullied and i know just how it feels and i would not wish it on anybody bullys are just insecure people who bully people because it makes them feel better but what about the person they are bullying dont they count they do have feelings aswell so please if you can help if only one child you can make a difference.

Summary: Bullying is wrong and needs to be stopped by parents and teachers.

Physical bullying is assault and should be treated thus, my brother was being bullied, my mother went to school and told them any further incidents and the police would be called. There has been no more. I feel schools should stop trying to deal with it in-house and refer assaults to the police first.

Very sorry about your cousin.

My younger brother was bullied for a short time at school. I was 6 years above him at the same school so when I found out I went up to the bully and slapped him a few times in the face in front of his mates. Not so hard that he'd be knocked to the floor. Just sufficient to knock the cockiness out of his demeanor. Thats the key thing. Show the bully's mates that he isn't invincible then all the 'respect' that he earned dissolved away. If I'd hit him so hard that he'd fallen then he would have been able to brag about it to his mates. The key was to embarass him.
Its the only language they understand. He never bullied my brother or anyone ever again.

Okay so its not a nice solution and I'm sure these days the police would be called but at the time (about 17 years ago) it worked. That was my solution. Everyone has to find their own.

I am sorry to hear what bullying has done to your family. It is about time this problem was sorted out in schools once and for all and not like in a lot of cases denied that it is happening only on the "rare" occassions.
