What is bullying? In my head it's when someone is picked on or targetted continually and made to feel inferior. There is a difference between not being in the in crowd and bullying and there is a deiffenence between falling out with people and bullying. It is such an emotive word, do you know anyone who hasn't got a bullying tale from school? I don't.

I'm a Teacher and I see squabbles and fall outs day in and day out. When does this escalate to bullying? When it's repeated, when it gets nasty and secretive, in my opinion.

What I wonder about is the use of the B word, 'He/She's bullying me' meaning 'We've fallen out' 'They won't do as I say' etc. and the impact of this. I don't want to foster a generation of self appointed victims, what chance will they have when they get to the real world?

There's no doubt that some children do bully and they do it partly to exert power over someone to make themselves feel good/better. I've seen it many times. What needs to be sorted is how to define it and what to do about it.
