Advantages: You can overcome it on top!
Disadvantages: It can take things out of you for now! Don't give up!
Hi, I'd like to tell you my story! Friends today look at me and can't believe that I was bullied from age 4 to 16 years old. Now at 20 next month I have overcome all the roblems which bullying brought about. I'm a University Student doing the degree I want to do, I have 3 great part-time jobs (Web Content Provider for www.girland.com, Student Support Worker and Junior College Tutor). The job with Girland which puts me in the position of role model to girls aged 8 to 16 has given me the opportunity to turn the past into good. I have been able to help girls who have been bullied and by seeing how I've got through and got what members would class as there dream job, as it's almsot like being a pop star to our members, I've beena ble to give them the strength to overcome the battle of bullying. It hurts to know that it still goes on and there hasn't been a solution found to stanp it out in our schools today. Bullying for me was a daily event throughout my entire school life, neither my Primary or Secondary school cared much about the problem and I found myself constantly hearing teachers stand up for the bullies instead of me the victim. I was lucky to have the supprt of my parents to get me through each day being physical and verally beaten. I try not to think about the past as it still hurts. I know violence isn't to be promoted but in the later years of being bullied I discovered that it was a way of defeating them and finally getting teacher to stand up for you. Basically if they lay a finger on you, then you can cause as much damage as you can to them and walk away scot free. As the logic appears to be the bullied gets the blame so in a way you mange to turn the tables. Violence is certainly not something I would promote normally but standing up to bullies is certainly a very sensible option as the more they see that you won't be stand for their behaviour the less the bulling
normally becomes. I look from my position now and see those who bullied me in the town when I return home from University during the holidays. They are generally pregnant or have children already and work(if at all) in the local factories. If they are male they are factory workers or living off the dole. What life is this? Not a very good one! I feel that tis is the repayment they are recieving for having tourtured me for so long and now I have the upper hand. If your one of the unlucky ones! Stay tuff and try not to let them get you down! You will rise above all this! They are not worth your tears. They are the ones with the problem, not you! And if you need anyone to talk to about bullying I'm happy to help, just send me an e-mail. m.j.mcardle@ncl.ac.uk m.j.mcardle@btinternet.com

- 21/03/01 Thanks to all of you for your comments. I am a strong believer that things happen for a reason!
Maury: I feel that using the negative feeling and experiences I have to help other is turning them into good and now I find I can look back on them without feeling as upset as I used to do.
Spacelamb: Well they do say that what goes around comes around so I guess the 'bullies working in factories' trend is more of a punishment for their miss doings.
Busybee1 310: Hopefully you can suport your daughter and share experiences it should help her to relise that she's not alone and its not a new thing. But also don;t worry I'm sure she can only become stronger through it. |

- 20/03/01 The 'bullies working in factories' trend must be a nationwide thing - all the bitchy girls from my old class at school are doing just that too. Amen. |
