Newest Review: ... a newer unit with a few new features and more watts per channel. The company whose products I like to buy, is Alpine. The sound quaility is much better than many other makes, it is hard to tell when you are listening in a shop environment. But as soon as you get it into the enclosed environment of your car thats when the clear crisp sounds hit you. Well your thinking to yourself it's not the headunit that produces the final sound its the speakers. The reason in buying a new headunit is that if you are running the speakers off the headunit as in most basic set-up's. Your existing headunit is probably not powerful enough to dr... more

Premium Review Buyers Guide: Car Stereo: Real ICE costs, but its worth it. (686 words)

No Whafedale, Blaupunkt or Philips in sight, don't get me wrong they make very respectable equipment. But I'm going to talk about real in car entertainment to suit everyone's music taste. Having read some of the other users opinons who all talk about there DIY experience and trips to Halfords, I thought this subject needs someone to talk about real car enterainment systems. Now I do not confess to know everything about ICE, these are just my thoughts and experiences on the subject. If you are just starting out a DIY installation is the way to go. Firstly the headunit most of the time this needs to be replaced, but don't go out and buy a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sill Leading The Way After 5 Years (340 words)

An Opinion on Pioneer In General We have a pioneer cd unit in our suzuki vitara, and have had it in 2 cars before that. Even though it is now over 5 years old and not available to buy anymore I have still seen few systems which equal or better it. Even though it's power output of 35x4 now seems quite weedy, the sound quality is superb. When we first put it into the vitara it blew suzuki's original speakers after a few days, so we paid a visit to our local LSUK to have pioneer speakers fitted at a cost of £45, but LSUK also renewed the wiring to the speakers free of charge (now that's a good service) Now the sound quality is as good ...  Read the complete review

Seen that rudeboy, in the Nova SR? He could tell you something about In Car Entertainment. I'm not one, but have a reasonable installation - Pioneer CD, 6 by 9s and Kenwood components. I did it myself as in my case it's not particually complex - should you? Also I'm here to be a voice of reason. How much should you spend to deafen yourself, even if it might impress a few - few - people that you know. Head Units: Head Units go at the front of the car, and they control the music and volume. Didn't think I needed to say that :) It's fairly easy to fit a head unit to your car, and it can make a world of difference ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Must be Minidisc (263 words)

I have now in the last 3 years had a tape player, 10 disc multi changer cd unit and now a Minidisc player. For me the car minidisc is by far the better, my model a Panasonic MR555 is no longer available but I am here to advocate the idea of having one. Something I would recommend is you have a MD recorder at home so you can make up your own discs in the same way you made tapes up in the past. The quality between tape and MD is clearly noticeble and the MD is as good as CD quality. No need to rewind, the MD acts just like a CD so you can flick right through an album in seconds. Comparing it to a CD is a lot closer but the fact the MD can be recorded over ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Buyers Guide: Car Stereo: Relax, let MR.COATES help you (1752 words)

There are millions of cars on the roads of Great Britain today and the motoring trade has become serious business. That of course brings along plenty of other opportunities for equipment and accessory manufacturers. One in particular that stands out is the world of in-car entertainment (ICE if you want to sound like you’re ‘down with the lingo’). The vast majority of cars that leave the production plants do so with reasonably basic systems. Only in the higher models will you see pretty acceptable audio components. That’s why many of us decide, at some point, to upgrade the car audio system. I recently went and did exactly the same thing. ...  Read the complete review
