I'm not reviewing new cars.. so if that is what you want to read about then please move on... This is for the people who need to buy older 2nd hand cars... This is a brief history of what I have driven - ups and downs... and all. So here goes..... 1996 - My first car: Ford Escort £500 Started out with a Ford Escort - C reg... ok, bit crap, but not too bad for a first car. At this point I was seeing someone who lived a 3 hour drive away, so up and down the country in it every weekend. No complaints - apart from a little over heating incident on a very trafficky A1. Speedo stops working, but hey I figure lets just do the same speed as everyone else - must ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Why *DID* You Buy That Car?? (1728 words)

When you purchase a new car you might truly believe that you are buying it for any number of excellent reasons. It fits into your budget. It looks good and has loads of safety features. It goes like sh*t of a shovel! But the *REAL* reason that we buy a new car is almost invariably to fulfill some deep-rooted emotional need in our psyche. And what new car you buy often reveals more than you think about the type of person you actually are! When you look at it logically, buying a new car is actually a very irrational thing to do. It depreciates in value the second that you drive it out of the car dealers, and most of the time you could buy an equally good (or ...  Read the complete review

There are a few good products and offerings which you may like from India. And I think among cars, Reva or the G-wiz from a Bangalore based firm is one of them. It's a tiny ugly looking car, but very effective as a city transporter. Designed by Chetan Maini who has made significant contribution to the field of solar and electric cars worldwide,he came out with his own offering. Currently there are a little more than 5000 cars worldwide including the UK. So chances are you might have already seen one. They aren't the first, but sometimes when all things, including market conditions fall into place, you have a good product. In contrast if fuel had remained ...  Read the complete review

on 27-2-06 we bought a car from REG VARDY, during the purchase of the vehicle all was fine, one little comment by the salesman that the car was £300 cheaper than it should be, (should have been enough for us to walk out) But we didn`t. We bought a Toyota Yaris (1) owner from new, £4999 top Book i would imagine. Four months later when we went to trade it in at another dealer a H P I check revealed that prior to the English Registration it had been registered in Ireland with another Regisration, after contacting the previous owner, we got in touch with REG VARDY and asked for our money back, I have not been successful yet but I am working on it. I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Buyer's Guide: Cars in general: Why not buy a car on eBay? (1581 words)

If you use the Internet, you’ll be aware of eBay I’m sure. If not, here’s a rapid synopsis of how it works. It’s an online auction. Sellers (and you can sell pretty much anything) offer items under various different categories. Each auction takes the form of a web page with details about the item, a picture (sometimes), details of the seller (eBay username and location), the time remaining until the end of the auction and the current bid price. As a buyer (you need to register with eBay first but don’t worry, it won’t cost you anything) you can then decide to bid. After that point it works just like a regular auction (only much slower, ...  Read the complete review
