Buying a child seat is one of the most important purchases you'll make. A correctly fitted and installed child seat can save your child's life in an otherwise life-threatening crash. Why use child seats? Car crashes are sudden and violent. Your arms cannot hold on to an infant ot child during a collision. But a certified, correctly-installed child seat can. Drivers must ensure that all infants and children are properly secured in certified child seats. The child seat you should use.... 1)meets safety standards 2)fits your child 3)has a harness system that is easily attached and adjusted. STAGE 1: Infant Seats ...  Read the complete review

When we bought our first car seat we gave very little consideraton to the practicalities of buying a seat that fits our car correctly, we just bought what we could afford and what looked nice. We were aware that a baby seat needs to be fitted securely into the car and suffice to say that by luck more than judgement, our first seat did fit our car at the time beautifully. It was only when we needed to replace that original car seat through wear and tear that we realised the full extent of the pitfalls that line the way to choosing the correct seat for your car. It is true that not all seats are suitable for all cars. It is also true that no professional body has ...  Read the complete review

This opinion has two parts the first about the Evenflo Medallion V car seat and purchasing, installing and using a car seat. We got two of these seats when the twins were 5 months old. We researched many seats before deciding on this one. I converted the weight to approximate metric measures. THE CAR SEAT WE PURCHASED The Evenflo Medallion V is a convertable infant/toddler car seat. It has removable padding to accommodate infants. The seat is good for up to 30 lbs (13.5 KG) in the rear facing position. It can be turned around to face forward when the child weighs 20 lbs (9 KG) until they weigh 40 lbs (18 KG). It cost $129 but I do not know ...  Read the complete review

I realise this is in the wrong place, but I will e-mail and ask someone to move it once a new category is set up for it - sorry This seat is suitable for 0-25 kg or 0-55lb (birth to approximately 6 years). It costs £125 which is fairly expensive but it is a reasonly good seat (I tested it for the 'Mother and Baby Magazine Tried and Tested Section). Pros 1) The seat looks very attractive (comes in dark blue with bright red patches) 2) It has an adjustable head support 3) It is well padded at the sides 4) There are poppers to hold the straps out of the way when putting your child into the seat 5) The straps are very easy to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Buyer's Guide: Child Car Seats: Its not so simple (754 words)

When it comes to choosing a car seat, there are some definite rules, and then some more things you should think about. First the absolutes: 1. The advice that I have seen is that babies should be in a rear facing child seat until at least 9 and preferably 12 months old. 2. If your car has a front air bag, then you should never fit a rear facing child seat onto the front seat. The child seat ends up being too close to the air bag and would take too much force if it deployed. Some cars have switches which disable the air bag. These are still less safe than if the air bag was not there in the first place. 3. Not all car seats fit all ...  Read the complete review
