What to look when buying your new DVD player - always try find those features you need for least price you can secure one. Do you have a television? Sounds like a daft question but unless you opt for a portable offering that has its own screen for watching on the move or from screens in the headrests of your Hummer, you will need a television to use the DVD player of your choice. Do you need to play Foreign DVDs? If your television supports either NTSC and/or SECAM playback the video standards of North America and mainland Europe respectively then you may choose to by a "Multi-regional" facility for you DVD player ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rimax Portable DVD Player (212 words)

I first saw this product reviewed in the Daily Mirror at the end of November. It's the first truly portable player I have found that has the ability to connect to a home TV system and also to a PC (for use as a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM). Being only just larger than an actual DVD, the unit is great for moving around. I've taken mine to my friends house on many occasions to watch movies. I suppose it would also be great for people who wanted to take it on holiday with them. The unit itself is multi-zoned and the play back quality is pretty good. The only real downside is that the remote control is a little small but it?s okay. Another useful feature is that ...  Read the complete review

Ok it's a boring afternoon and you decide to pop a video on. You rent something out from the rental store for a few quid. You pop it in, sit back and enjoy. But wait the colours are all faded, there's immense bleeding in the reds and oranges and you're trying to enjoy the film while all the time you're trying to forget that low audible hiss that is coming off the soundtrack. Then halfway through you get some nasty lines flickering through the picture. This is your VCR's way of telling you that it's technology is now only good for taping things off the TV as it's virtually extinct as home entertainment. It tells you that you ...  Read the complete review

I have spent weeks researching dvd players and managed to get the perfect one for me. Hopefully this opinion will find your perfect player too!! Things to consider: ***How are you going to link your player to your television?*** Video lead (coaxial) - probably the worst way to link up your player but it works. Scart lead - gets you a better picture. Now you need to check the back of your television to see how many scart sockets you have, if you only have one and you want your video going into that then your dvd player will have to go through your video player which causes problems (see later section on vcr mode). If you have two scart ...  Read the complete review

With the cost of DVD players coming down all the time, more and more people are searching the internet for sources of cheap dvd discs. Chances are that the biggest choices are not in the UK but in the US. The other reason that people may want to shop in the US though is that films become available over here on DVD long before the UK. In fact, they may become available before the film even makes it into the UK cinemas. Film makers are well aware of this anomaly and, in a bid to protect their own markets, perpetrated a real stitch up on consumers. Basically all DVD players can play all DVD discs from anywhere in the world. This is because the ...  Read the complete review
