Advantages: Small, Portable, Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Tad expensive, Lack of pre-recorded material
I have been the proud owner of a portable minidisc recorder for over 2 years now. It has travelled the world with me and has been more useful to me than any walkman ever could. This category doesn't involve the naming or shaming of models so you will have to wonder till the day you die what I have. Minidisc Pros : EVERYTHING.(almost) You have a re-recordable medium, laser to laser copying, instant access to tracks, re-ordering of tracks, disc/track identification, high capacity batteries, small light machines, "indestructable discs" etc etc..... Cons : They are still a little expensive if you want a decent quality of sound. The unavailability of pre-recorded minidiscs. Advice : Shop around, the most expensive is not always the best. The same goes for names, sexy styling etc..... Listen First!!!!!!! And always try the earphones. You can always buy new ones, but combinations don't always work out. So: Go out and listen to several models, Try them with different earphones, try not to look at the price, and ignore the pushy sales assistant. A 5 second trial is not enough. You are probably going to part with a couple of hundred quid, take your time, because it is blue doesn't mean it is good. Decide what you want from it, Do you need an optical input, do you need to be able to connect it up at home. Ask the pushy sales assistant these questions and feel free to ask some of your own. Good luck And DONT BUY A PLAYER ONLY BUY A RECORDER
