Ah! I have fond memories of the cabbage soup diet. All those pans full of green soup brimming like a witches cauldron. The noxious odours travelling throught the atmosphere both from the soup and the recipients. The hours spent contemplating ones Navel whilst sitting in the littlest room. An inevitable result of gallons of soup. I firmly believe that half the weight loss resulted from those hours in the loo!

No one can deny that it is a healthy diet consisting of gallons of a soup based on cabbage, onions and tomatoes. You could then add unlimited quantities of any vegetables you wanted except Potatoes, peas and sweetcorn. You could eat this at will day or night, so you were never hungry.

Each day you could add specific items to the mix. On one day you could eat a jacket potato - the sheer luxury of it. On another day you could eat 12 ounces of chicken, fish or beef. This was a massive amount, I couldn't take it on. It was an excercise in "How many different ways can you serve cabbage soup?" Curried, Minestronied, Thick Farmhoused...

I was not really overweight, and I don't find that diets work for me when I want to loose a bit of weight. I usually find that cutting down and making sure that I eat plenty of fruit and vegetables works best. Did it work I hear you ask? Well actually it did. I lost about a stone in two weeks.
