Advantages: has the potential to be a good defender
Disadvantages: inconsitent
Finally, Sol Campbell has put months unrest by pledging his future to Spurs. But, I was quite thrown back by it all…….WHY? It’s not because I don’t think Spurs are a big club, if Sol had ever attention of staying then he should have signed a new contract rather than let all the speculation drag on. I have heard George Graham talk about the situation so many times, surely it would have been easier for both club and player if the had agreed a new contract at the beginning of the season and got on with playing football. I would have thought that at 26, Sol might have wanted to go abroad, Valencia and a host of other clubs were after his services, maybe he should have gone. The experience from playing abroad would have been invaluable and might have made him a better player, playing against top strikers. I can’t see Sol Campbell going to Manchester United because the have enough good defenders there already, with Staam, Ronny Johnson, Wes Brown and Gary Neville. Sol Campbell is a brilliant defender, he’s quick and can make excellent tackles. He’s great going forward and his powerful in the air. At 26, he’s got to make sure the choice he makes is the right one for him. A excellent player who hasn’t really fulfilled his potential, he could walk into most defences. It’s a pity really he won’t go to Arsenal, he would have been a perfect replacement for Tony Adams.

- 04/01/01 sol is a fool, his career would go sky high at a big club, and yet he is staying at spurs. he could be a world class player, but no. |

- 03/01/01 I wonder if he is hanging on for the money from ENIC to come into the club ? Sol is obviously the main asset at the club, and it would not be good business for ENIC to allow him to leave on a Bosman. Not convinced it is out of loyalty... |
