Advantages: Fun and free hobby.

Disadvantages: Takes more and more time up, people think you are a nerd.

I have been entering web based competitions for about a year now and have had until recently spasmodic results.

Best prizes have been a palm 3x, £100 to spend at amazon.com and yesterday £1000.

The fun for me is the challenge to find answers to the most difficult questions. The very easy answers are just boring, the promoters would be better just doing a free draw.

Competitions with tie-breakers are for me the hardest. There must be an elite group who enter all those comps and have the knack of coming up with something fantastic.

A hint I did here was to forget the first line that comes into your head as that is what most people are thinking as well.

Its great when I win small unexpected prizes like CDs or books, . The most popular prize with my family was a cate of ale. ( Until I won that they all seemed to take the mickey )
